We want to build a new Maharashtra and set up good schools where every student gets the privilege of receiving a quality education, Maharashtra Minister Aaditya Thackery said.
Maharashtra Minister Aaditya Thackery has said that the state government wants to build a new Maharashtra and set up good schools where students will have the privilege of getting a quality education. The Minister said this while speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony of Chatrabhuj Narsee School in Hadapsar. The ceremony was also graced by the NCP chief Sharad Pawar.
"We want to build a new Maharashtra and set up good schools where every student gets the privilege of receiving quality education. Our education system should help increase curiosity in students and encourage practical learning rather than rote learning," the state tourism minister said.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Pawar said, "Post the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be a change in functioning of schools and this needs to be considered while designing and operating schools." It must be in sync with the guidelines set up by the state government, he added.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had earlier in the day had announced that the schools in the state will reopen after Diwali while taking all the precautionary measures. The schools across the state will reopen for Classes 9 to 12 after a gap of 7 months from November 23, 2020. Teachers will have to undergo an RT-PCR test to detect Covid19 from November 17 to 22.
The Chief Minister further said that the precautions such as the sanitization of school premises and health checkups of teachers would be conducted in the state before reopening schools. He further stated that students who are ailing or have ailing members at home, should not be sent to schools by their parents in this period. The School Education Department will soon be releasing the detailed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) regarding the reopening of schools.
