MIT will be grading theory courses based on prorating of Internal Assessment (IA) marks and performance of students in the available previous semester, as a one-time measure, for the ongoing semester only.
Amid the ongoing pandemic situation and the increasing number of novel coronavirus cases, Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), Manipal, announced relief to students from appearing for the end semester examination of the ongoing semester. In a letter sent to VI, IV and II Semester BTech students on June 8, 2021, MIT stated, "Due to the numerous requests received from students and parents, the university has decided to consider providing relief to students from appearing for the end semester examination of the ongoing semester. The institute has always been sensitive to genuine concerns of our dear students and have always supported and helped them.”
The decision has been taken after due consideration and extensive consultation with all stakeholders. MIT will be grading theory courses based on prorating of Internal Assessment (IA) marks and performance of students in the available previous semester, as a one-time measure, for the ongoing semester only. Meanwhile, the prorating would be on similar lines as followed in the previous academic year.
In case students are not satisfied with their results, they have an option to apply for improvement of grade for theory courses by appearing for the Grade Improvement Examination (GIE), without any academic penalty. MIT will conduct the examination through Online Protocol mode and will be scheduled from the first week of August. The institute will be releasing a detailed schedule shortly. It may be noted that the better of the two grades will be reflected in the gradesheet, should any student opt for GIE, the letter stated.
