Odisha to get sixty-four new Ekalavya schools. According to media reports, out of the total, 16 schools in the tribal-dominated Mayurbhanj district would be made functional from the current financial year, Union Minister Bishweswar Tudu said on September 8. In order to reduce the drop-out rate amongst tribal girls, all the blocks in the Mayurbhanj district have been allocated schools with toilet facilities, water supply systems. According to NDTV, Mayurbhanj MP told that the project’s tender process has already been completed. The Tribal Affairs Ministry has been setting up Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) for imparting quality education to tribal children in their own environment in remote areas across the country.

Mr Tudu, the Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs, listed a series of projects chalked out for the development of various sectors like aviation, railway, tourism, highways in the Mayurbhanj district. The minister also stated that a new railway line from Bangriposhi to Gorumahishani will also be made operational.
Such developments will help to impart quality education to the community. The steps are being taken to uplift the tribal people and give them better exposure and career opportunities.
The minister also highlighted that along with other developments an additional Rs 265 crore was sanctioned by the Union government for the development of NH-18 and NH-49, the two national highways that pass through the Mayurbhanj district. The move will connect the district with main cities and enable better facilities.
