MU to set up Centre Of Excellence in Sports Science and Management

Following a special meeting of the sports committee recently, Mumbai University (MU) has announced that it would set up a Centre of Excellence in sports science and management. As per MU, it will play a vital role in scientific study and management.

The Centre of Excellence in sports science and management will be open to students who want to make a career in this field. The centre will offer many courses in sports science and management in the form of certificates, diplomas and degree programs. The courses will include sports management, sports psychology, sports medicine, sports physiology, the diet of sportspersons and event management.

Sports science is the study of how sport and physical activity promote physical, mental and social health in humans. It includes other areas of academic studies like engineering, anatomy, physiology, chemistry and psychology.

The official statement of MU said, “Sports science and its management is an emerging field, where the university's centre will play a role in developing an ecosystem required for it. The centre will not restrict itself to the university level, but it will be a part of the state or union government's sports policy."

The sports science and management courses will be available at the university level and the colleges attached to MU.
