Mumbai University gets highest number of applications for PhD Entrance Test

This year, Mumbai University has got its highest-ever number of applications for PhD Entrance Test (PET). As compared to previous years’ statistics, it is much better this year.

This year, Mumbai University has got its highest-ever number of applications for PhD Entrance Test (PET). As compared to previous years’ statistics, it is much better this year. Out of the overall 6,848 applications received by the university, 510 applications have been received from students of other states. For the first time, MU started accepting individual applications for PhD and MPhil this year. The applications for PhD and MPhil were invited from February 27 to March 31. A total of 6,512 students have applied for PhD, and 326 students have applied for MPhil. The dates for the exam will be announced soon. The varsity started holding the PED exam according to the UGC guidelines since 2016.

The number of applications has witnessed an upward trend since then. The university got 3,350 applications in the year 2016 while it received 3,700 applications in 2017. On the other hand, it received 6,168 applications in 2018. This is the second year that MU will be holding the exam online. For its previous exam conducted in 2018, the University had received 6,168 applications. The exam to be held in 2019 was deferred this year to 2020.

Apart from this, many colleges and universities including MU have been coming forward to contribute their bit to fight the battle against COVID-19 pandemic. A number of colleges have offered their college premises for the treatment of COVID-19 suspects. Apart from this, the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) have been working on many innovative ways to offer affordable medical equipment and ventilators.
