One can always adapt personality or behavioural change but one can’t adapt the right Attitude & Gratitude, says Kumar
College, Faculty and Friends are three things that can either make you or break you in life. The right college for your field/industry, helpful faculty who’s ready to guide you throughout the journey and the right set of friends in College is of utmost importance. It's about the circle and positive vibe which you get from the above mentioned, and that’s what describes you. You may have heard, ‘Birds of the same feather flock together’ and you may have also heard ‘Your Network is your Net Worth’ so I hope you get what I’m implying. Anyway, talking about how to maintain the equilibrium between the two sides of the coin is exactly what’s coming up.
So, today I would like to talk about one such class or rather a session, which should ideally be Mandatory in all Hospitality Industry Institutions, also which helped each one of us become better and better day by day and rightly so, and the session is none other than the Personality Development (PD) Sessions. Personality Development is not something that any individual or a group of individuals needs to adapt or to dwell on. In fact, it's something we all are born with, all we need to do is, but the right attitude, right gratitude, right skill set and right sense of honour in check from day one. I always say, PD is not only about Personality, it's more about Attitude and Gratitude. One can always adapt personality change or behavioural change but one can’t adapt the right Attitude & Gratitude, because that’s not something you adapt, that’s again something you’re born with. Those are your family values, your principles and your beliefs. It's a scientific fact that gratitude reciprocates.
Talking about my personal growth in terms of Personality or Attitude, Honour or Gratitude and Opportunities would be never-ending. As I described Vedatya Institute in my previous Article “I am looking forward to becoming one of the best executives the industry has ever come across: Kumar Abhik”, In that article, I am afraid I couldn’t do justice to Vedatya Institute. Vedatya has been the best in my experience. Whether it’s the college atmosphere or Faculty, Online Classes or Offline Classes- each aspect has been outstanding. I would also like to express my gratitude to Vedatya for organising Personality Development (PD) classes with various activities to hone our soft skills and public speaking abilities. In my opinion, A personality Development class should be declared Mandatory in all Hospitality Institutions.
Talking about the opportunities I got in the college (Pre-Covid), directly or indirectly provided by the PD Head, would be Group Discussions (GD), Personal Interviews (PI), activities for Social Environment etc. Post-Covid, I got a lot of new opportunities during the lockdown period when I was bored at home & had nothing much to do. Vedatya came to rescue me with their Rescue Plan for all the students during the Lockdown period, with a Group Discussion Competition where students from PHML-18 & PICA-18, PHML-19 & PICA-19 were the participants and I’m proud to say that with constant support and guidance from Vedatya Institute and PD Head, Prashanti Jaykumar, I won the Group Discussion Competition for PHML-18 & PICA-18 with 28/30 marks. It didn’t stop there, yet another opportunity came through my way in no time for an Inter College Debate Competition at JIIMS organised by Eco Club of Jagannath International Management School, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi. Once again, God is kind, with everyone’s blessings, I along with my partner won the Inter College Debate Competition too. Now the third and the biggest opportunity that came my way was really a big one, it was the Online National Debate Competition to commemorate World Tourism Day 2020 organised by Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism, Amity University, Noida but this time, it was really hard and a lot of dedication and hard work was put in but once again, we did it. It was me and my partner who received second position along with a trophy at the National Debate Competition, Amity University, Noida.
Many opportunities have been coming and going through college years, it's on the students who want to grab it and prove their worth or let it pass and crib about lack of opportunities. I have experienced both worlds. I have missed opportunities and cribbed about the same and I have grabbed the opportunity and proven my worth too. I missed a wonderful opportunity which came my way initially but due to some unavoidable reason I was unable to participate in the same, it was called ‘Manage the Damage’ which was mainly about situation handling but I don’t regret it. As I said, I have had the best of both worlds. Talking about my secondary circle, I have seen a lot of my close friends drastically improve from A-Z, with the help and constant support of Vedatya and PD Head. I have witnessed improvement on a drastic level from altitude change, behavioural change, personality change, communication skills enhancement of a lot of my friends and rightly so, such as Khushi Verma, Ritvik Sharma, Abhishek Saini, Amrit Pandey, Lovleen Arora, Prachi Garg, Anshdeep Gulati and many more including myself, Kumar Abhik.
Lastly, I would like to thank Vedatya Institute and our PD Head, Prashanti Jaykumar, for constantly guiding and supporting all the students throughout & special thanks to Sandeep Munjal, Anjana Singh, Rashmeet Kapoor & Prashanti Jaykumar for improving our personality and moulding us to be better professionals.
