History fascinates me. Stories of rich Indian culture and heritage have always been of my interest and this is why I am a travel lover. I visit places, explore, stay in hotels, understand their culture and the local stories are what make my trips memorable. I am from Rajasthan which is known for its royal culture and hospitality it offers to tourists. Cities such as Jaipur, Udaipur, Jaisalmer, Mount Abu, Jodhpur, Ajmer, Ranthambore, Bikaner are a few examples known for their rich heritage in Rajasthan. Since then only I was clear to choose Hospitality as a career that takes me places and given me the opportunity to present the richness of India to the world.

I have been an active sportsman since my early school days and for a few years, I have also been the captain of my school’s cricket team. I was also an active participant in various other extracurricular activities. These activities taught me the importance of being social in life and maintaining good inter-personal skills. Meeting people and interacting with them is something that I have been doing for years now.

Talking about my college life, I got to know about Servo Hospitality School from a close relative. I enquired about the same and realised that the school operates under the guidance of renowned industry leaders and is in collaboration with International universities, hence I decided to participate in the admission process.

The admission process is simple. There are three personal interview rounds and one group discussion round. As I have been a travel lover, I had the basic idea of various hotels which helped me clear the interview rounds.

Another positive about the institute is its training partnership with Hotel Ramada which is a brand in its own. The professionals from Ramada come and train students regularly in various aspects. Even, the students also got the chance to visit the hotel and experience the hospitality there, it’s truly global.

As I am a part of the core student-centric institute, there is a programme called Mentor-Mentee programme. It hs been designed for individual growth.  All students are assigned to a faculty member who are then responsible for their mentee’s growth. They analyse and evaluate student’s development areas and then starts focusing on them. I was never so good with my communication skills but having spent significant time under my mentor, now I able to easily converse with people in New Zealand.

One of our professors always says, “a good reader is always a good communicator” and she inculcated the habit of reading I all of us. The state-of-art infrastructure at the campus offers us access to a great library. I like to spend most of the time there reading books. Even my family members and friends have started noticing the difference in me.

Out of all the classes, my favourite one is the Housekeeping that is being led by Professor Ajay Rawat. His teaching style is way different from other professors as he makes learning fun and interactive. While teaching concepts, he makes sure that every student learns every bit of it. Not just housekeeping, but I also like to attend Cooking sessions. I have also participated in Chef competition and towel art competition and won second prize.

Apart from the regular curriculum, there are also various extra-curricular activities going around such as volleyball, yoga, sustainability, wine tasting session and bar-tending sessions to help students identify and develop their interest.

The time that I have spent at Servo Hospitality School has transformed me completely.
