For as long as I can remember, I wanted to pursue a career in management. Thus, I naturally gravitated towards a PGDM or Post Graduate Diploma in Management when I considered my post-graduation. I completed my PGDM from Sunstone Eduversity, batch 2016-18. After being exposed to various management specialisations and summer internships at Sunstone, I chose a career in the sales and marketing domain.

Sunstone Eduversity offers the right blend of industry knowledge and skills that allow students to achieve their dreams. The faculty and management facilitate the right resources to build a strong foundation.

After completing my internship with a Delhi based IT startup during the curriculum, I went on to become the team lead and now the Assistant Manager at Byju’s, fastest-growing educational aid platform.

Why Sunstone?

Sunstone Eduversity was not my first choice. While looking for colleges, I placed more importance on location, accredited faculty, affordable fee, hands-on learning, and a strong alumni network, when it came to choosing an MBA programme. On encountering Sunstone Eduversity, I was impressed by all that Sunstone had to offer and how it posed as the perfect platform.

Another major reason for choosing Sunstone was the pay after placement fee structure. This enabled me to pursue my post-graduation on my terms, without burdening my family or taking up educational loans. The pay after placement payment model and Sunstone’s accountability for the students’ careers make Sunstone stand out for me.

Although I felt that my technical background and interests in the sales and marketing field did not align particularly well with leadership positions in the Indian job market, I was sure about my interests and career goals.  All I wanted was practical exposure to the marketing industry to learn the right skills. When I saw the Sunstone curriculum, it was a clear match!

A combination of my technical knowledge with complimentary business knowledge and management skills is what I aimed for. Sunstone’s strong industry connect and curriculum at par with requirements provided this opportunity, only furthering my decision to apply to Sunstone Eduversity’s Noida campus, thus providing me with the right exposure to learning opportunities.

I realised that the PGDM course here at Sunstone had a more practical approach compared to other management programmes. This piqued my interest and started going through the course content and timeline. The PGDM specialisations were applied, I had the option to choose to do dual specialisation and the elaborate, hands-on way of teaching each subject was nice

Experience @ Sunstone

Initially, I assumed the professors would not be that approachable because of the sheer workload and number of students in both PGDM & MBA. However, the Learning Management System adopted by Sunstone made getting personalised feedbacks and remedial lessons from the professors so simple, and all professors were very encouraging of students challenging their learnings and questioning at every stage.

Apart from academics, I found myself busy with extracurricular activities that kept me inspired. I joined the marketing club and was part of various live projects. The live projects and the other extracurricular activities helped me apply my learnings and see for myself what works in the real world. So, I think holistically this experience made me a better person and professional at tackling problems.

The nine months paid internship with a Delhi based IT start-up was a real eye-opener for me, where I learned that one needs to have the right balance of theoretical and practical knowledge. After which, one moves on to choose the internship, though one might have to balance between the two.

Advice for Prospective Students

I would recommend Sunstone Eduversity to every management aspirant looking to make it on their own. With the pay after placement makes it on your terms and do what interests you.

I believe that looking beyond academics and qualifications may pave the way for students to broaden their horizons and open doors to wonderful experiences. Focus on learning by doing and not being scared to apply that knowledge in the real world. At Sunstone you will have the opportunity to interact with like-minded people from different streams and backgrounds, which can provide you with a variety of views about the Indian job market.
