The new National Education Policy will bring revolutionary changes in schools and higher education, the Defence Minister said.
The new National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 proposes many revolutionary changes in school and higher education and it will help in the holistic development of students, the Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said. Singh conducted a virtual meeting with the volunteers of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS), National Cadet Corps (NCC) and National Service Scheme (NSS) on creating awareness about the new NEP.
In July, the Union Cabinet gave nod to the new NEP 2020 that replaces the National Policy on Education framed in 1986 and is aimed at paving the way for transformational reforms in schools and higher education systems to make India a global knowledge superpower.
"The New Education Policy is the first policy in Indian history in which a multi-pronged and multi-stakeholder consultative process was undertaken which included online, grassroots and national level deliberations," Mr. Singh said on Twitter.
This policy suggests many revolutionary changes in school and higher education leading to the holistic development of students, he stated. "The National Education Policy will fulfil the vision of Prime Minister, Shri @narendramodi to create a 'self-reliant India'," Mr. Singh noted.
The virtual interaction was also participated by the coordinators of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, Singh said, adding that it took place under the Shikshak Parv initiative.
During while addressing the conclave on 'School Education in 21st Century' under the National Education Policy 2020 through video conferencing, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said that the new curriculum framework under National Education Policy is developed to reduce the school syllabus and make learning a fun-based and complete experience for school students. The PM further added that our students will have the new curriculum by 2022. Talking about the pressure that mark sheets often create on students, the PM said that marksheet became 'pressure sheet' for students and 'prestige sheet' for families and NEP's goal is to remove this pressure.
