Online Degrees in India: Latest Updates
Recently, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has approved 38 universities in India to start online degree programmes. Major universities such as Jamia Millia Islamia, Jawaharlal Nehru University, University of Jammu, Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, Symbiosis International, etc. will offer degree programmes in complete online mode. As long as the universities comply with the NAAC and NIRF ranking requirements as per the regulations laid by UGC, universities can offer online degree programmes.
A recent UGC statement said, “Online applications had been invited from all entitled HEls willing to offer programmes under online mode for the year 2020-21. Each HEI was required to submit an affidavit for ensuring compliance to all the provisions of the University Grants Commission (Open and Distance Learning Programmes and Online Programmes) Regulations, 2020.”
