When will school reopen in India 2021? With the number of COVID-19 cases declining in the country and with several state governments beginning to relax the COVID-19 restrictions, the students from across the country are eager to know when schools will reopen in their state.

Many states had announced early summer vacations owing to the spike in COVID-19 cases in April, however, with a decline in the number of positive cases it is expected that the reopening of schools will begin soon.

All the schools across the country have been kept closed since mid-March last year due to a coronavirus outbreak. This was the first time in history, that all the educational institutions across the country opted for an online mode of education to avoid any academic loss of students due to the closure of schools. With students completing one academic year already through online classes, many are anxious that when schools will reopen in India and they will be back to physical classrooms. As the new academic session is all set to start, students are eagerly waiting for schools to reopen. However, reopening schools in offline mode is not mandatory.

The school reopening decision will be made voluntarily by the states. However, the question of when will schools reopen in India 2021 is still unanswered. Many states like Delhi, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh had reopened the schools for some classes at the beginning of the year, but with a spike, in COVID-19 cases they had to close it again.

Earlier, CBSE cancelled the CBSE Board Exams 2021 for CBSE 10th and CBSE 12th. Soon after the announcement, many states have also cancelled their Board Exams 2021. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has recently announced the CBSE 10th result 2021 and CBSE 12th Result 2021. IMA warns schools, colleges 

The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has appealed to all the schools and colleges to strictly adhere to the Covid protocol and ensure all the adults in the school's milieu to be vaccinated properly.

IMA has also demanded that the governments should expedite the proposal for vaccination of children in the age group 12 – 18 years at the earliest. “It is also noted that with Omicron in most of the African Countries there is a sudden increase in children who are getting more infected and admitted to Intensive Care Units. This possibility of enhancing infection in the Paediatric age group is also inevitable,” stated IMA issuing a statement.

Delhi-NCR schools closed

As an effort toward improving air quality in Delhi NCR, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) directed that all public and private schools, colleges and educational institutions in the National Capital Region shall remain closed until further orders, allowing only online mode of education.

Delhi-NCR Schools reopen

The schools and other educational institutions in Delhi reopened from November 29, after being shut earlier this month following increased air pollution in the state. 

School Reopening: Ministry Data

Considering the decline in the COVID-19 cases, at least 22 states and Union Territories reopened schools for all students. Schools and other educational institutions faced a prolonged closure due to the Covid pandemic. According to the official press release, over 92 percent of the teaching personnel in India have been vaccinated, the Union Education Ministry said on November 2, 2021. The reopening of schools was reviewed by the Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The minister called for restoring normalcy in educational institutions in view of rapid inoculations in the county.

The press release stated that the data shared by the ministry reveals while over 92 percent of teaching personnel have been vaccinated across the country, the Centre-run institutes have recorded 96 per cent vaccination among their teaching employees. At least 86 percent of non-teaching personnel of educational institutions have also been vaccinated, it showed.

Pondicherry School Reopening News

The education minister of Puducherry A Namassivayam on November 7, 2021, announced that their decision to reopen schools, both government and privately managed, from November 8, has been put on hold. The decision has been taken in view of incessant rains in the Union Territory. The minister through an official release said that after holding discussions with the officials of the Department of Education that the incessant rains are the immediate reason to put off the date of reopening of schools for Classes 1 to 8. Fresh dates to reopen schools for these classes will be announced soon by the government after analyzing the situation.

School Reopening: West Bengal schools to reopen from November 15

The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) has issued the guidelines to conduct offline classes for students of Classes 9 to 12.

A tentative standard operating procedure (SOP) has been prepared by the West Bengal government's school education department regarding school reopening for higher classes from November 16 after the festive season

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has announced that the schools across the state will reopen from November 15, 2021.

Schools are required to follow all COVID-19 protocols while reopening like ensuring the regular sanitization of the classroom, maintaining social distancing, thermal guns to monitor the temperature of students, and various others.

School Reopening: Leh school to reopen from October 14

Ladakh's Leh district has announced that all private and government schools will reopen for Classes 9 to 12 from October 14. Leh has announced the closure of schools for students up to Class 12 on September 18 after dozens of students tested positive for COVID-19 during a special drive at the Shey area. 

Reopen Schools in phased manner: ICMR

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has recommended that the schools in the country should be reopened in a phase-wise manner starting with primary sections. ICMR also advised for multi-layered COVID-19 mitigation measures in schools. The experts pointed at a UNESCO report that states the closure of Indian schools for over 500 days have affected more than 320 million children especially children from poor and deprived families.

School Reopening: Supreme Court Decision

The Supreme Court of India has refused to entertain a plea seeking directions to the Centre and states to consider and take a time-bound decision to reopen schools and to conduct offline teaching. The top court has said that it cannot direct states to reopen schools for physical teaching.

Schools in Delhi reopen from November 1

Following the government’s order, schools and other educational institutions in the National were reopened November 1, 2021, for all classes. They have been closed for a prolonged period due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Schools in the national capital were reopened on September 1 earlier in a phased manner. Schools for students studying in Classes 9 to 12 has been reopened from September 1 and for those studying in Classes 6 to 8 the schools will reopen from September 8 onwards. An expert committee established by the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has recommended reopening the schools in Delhi in a phased manner in September.

The last date for selected EWS candidates to report to their respective schools has been extended by the Delhi government. As per the officials of the Directorate of Education, students can now report until September 20.

When will school reopen in Jharkhand?

Jharkhand Schools reopened for classes 6 to 8 students from September 20, 2021. The state government has taken the decision considering the decline in the COVID-19 cases in the state.

On August 25, 2021, Jharkhand Education secretary Rajesh Sharma in a meeting with the District Superintendent of Education, has indicated to reopen schools up to class 8th. Schools are likely to continue online classes along with offline classes.

School should remain open, suggests the National Institute of Disaster Management

The National Institute of Disaster Management has suggested that schools across the country should remain open with health guidelines. It further stated that the schools should be reopened where no cases of COVID or only “sporadic cases” have been reported. It further reported that there is no biological evidence that the current variant and new Delta Plus variants of COVID-19 will affect children more disproportionately than adults.

Mizoram School reopening: More than 300 schools reopen

More than 300 schools have opened their doors for the students in Mizoram for the 2021-22 academic session. The schools have been opened in the areas that are COVID-19 free. As per the new COVID-19 guidelines issued by the Mizoram government the schools have been reopened in areas outside the Aizawl Municipal corporation jurisdiction where there are no COVID-19 cases. 

School Reopening: ICMR suggestion

Once India starts reopening schools, it will be wise, to begin with,f the primary section as children have a lower number of ace receptors to which virus attaches, making them much better at handling viral infections than adults, ICMR said. 

Chhattisgarh School Reopening news

According to ANI tweet, Chhattisgarh Health Minister TS Singh Deo in his latest statement said that “It's not about reopening schools but caution, which is of umpteen importance... Perhaps schools will not be opened until children are vaccinated. But schools have to ensure that staff is 100% vaccinated.”

Schools in Chattisgarh has reopened for senior classes from September 2, 2021. The school has reopened for students of 6th standard, 7th standard, 9th standard, and 11th standard. However, it should be noticed that schools has been allowed to reopen only in those districts where the positivity rate of COVID-19 is less than 1per cent for seven days.  

Gujarat School reopening news 

The government of Gujarat allowed the reopening of schools for Classes 1 to 5 from November 22. Schools for Classes 6 to 8 reopened from September 2 onwards with 50 per cent capacity. Earlier, Gujarat reopened schools for the students of Classes 9 and 11 from July 26. Though the schools have reopened for physical classes in Gujarat, the classroom capacity will not exceed 50 per cent. It is mandatory for students coming in for physical classes to get a consent form signed by their parents for the same. It is also mandatory for all children attending classes to follow social distancing rules strictly inside the campus. The children also need to get their temperatures checked at the entry gates while coming to school.

Uttarakhand School Reopening news

The Uttarakhand Cabinet has approved a proposal to resume offline lessons for students of classes 6 to 12 from August 1. The schools will be reopened amid COVID-19 guidelines. Attendance will not be mandatory, however, wearing masks and following social distancing guidelines will be a must. Schools across the country have been shut since March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

When will school reopen in India? Check what AIIMS Director said

All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Director Dr. Randeep Guleria said there is a need to work aggressively on strategies so that schools, which have been shut for over a year owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, can be reopened. The work on school reopening has to be done aggressively as it has really affected the young generation in terms of knowledge and especially the marginalised ones who can't go for online classes, he added.

Making the COVID-19 vaccine available for children will be a milestone achievement and pave the way for reopening of schools and resumption of outdoor activities for them, he said.

School Reopening in India: Government response

All the students and parents across the country are worried that when will school reopen in India? Dr. VK Paul, NITI Aayog (health) member, recently said, "The time should come soon. But we must also consider how schools were reopened in foreign countries and they had to close after the outbreak. We do not want to put our students and teachers in such a situation."

He also said that before reopening the schools in India various factors need to be considered.  The government will consider reopening of schools only when majority of teachers and staff are vaccinated.

School Reopening: Puducherry

Schools and colleges have reopened in Puducherry on September 1, 2021. Earlier, education minister A Namassivayam had announced that the government has decided to postpone the reopening of the schools and educational institutions that were earlier scheduled to reopen on July 16 owing to the COVID-19 situation. The Union Territory had reported cases of hospitalisation of 20 kids after testing positive with COVID-19.

When will school reopen in Jammu and Kashmir 2021?

The government of Jammu and Kashmir has decided to reopen schools for Classes 10 and 12. The schools for Class 12 will reopen for vaccinated students and staff with 50 per cent of the capacity. For students of Class 10, classes will be held only after the COVID test. 

The government also allowed coaching centres to reopen with certain conditions for civil services/JEE/NEET to reopen with certain conditions

Jammu and Kashmir School Education Board (JKBOSE) have cancelled the remaining JKBOSE 10th board exams 2021. The JKBOSE students will be promoted based on internal assessment and their performance in the board exams that have already been conducted during the academic year. 

The JKBOSE 12th examinations that began on April 1 and were to continue until April 29, were halted midway and postponed due to COVID-19. Now, the government has cancelled the pending examinations. 

When Schools will Reopen in Delhi?

Delhi government has sought suggestions from parents and teachers on reopening of the schools in the national capital. Delhi Education Ministry has asked all the parents, teachers and students to send their thoughts through an email with their names. The email ID is DelhiSchools21@gmail.com. 

The Delhi government had earlier announced that it has decided to allow Classes 10 and 12 students to visit their schools for admission-related work, counselling, guidance and practical related works for the upcoming board exams. SOPs have been issued in this regard, which includes written consent from parents, not sharing books and stationery, sanitisation of schools and conducting thermal scanning.

Earlier in July, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has announced that schools in Delhi will not reopen for now or regular academic or offline classes. While announcing the decision, Delhi CM noted that the imminent threat of 3rd Wave of COVID-19 is still looming and therefore the state government has decided not to reopen Delhi Schools for now. 

The Delhi Education Minister Manish Sisodia had also said that keeping in mind the security and safety of children, we are not calling students back to school anytime soon. "We are, however, ensuring that the construction work for the new and improved classrooms are done at a fast pace so that when the children do end up returning back to school, they are welcomed with new and colourful classrooms with the best facilities," Mr Sisodia said on June 21.

While the Delhi government has uplifted restrictions on most of the activities, educational institutions have still been instructed to remain closed. The state government has stressed that the decision to not reopen schools in Delhi has been taken keeping in mind the safety of the children amid the possibility of a third COVID-19 wave.

Schools in Delhi earlier resumed offline classes for a short period of time and on a voluntary basis for Classes 10 and 12 in January, while for classes 9 and 11, schools were reopened in February. However, it was again shut due to a surge in the number of coronavirus cases.

When will schools reopen in Punjab 2021?

Schools in Punjab reopened on July 26. As per the detailed guidelines issued by the Education Department, only fully vaccinated teachers and non-teaching staff are allowed to attend school. Apart from this, children who want to attend offline classes have to give written parental consent. Meanwhile,online classes will continue. 

The reopening of schools in Punjab came after a drop in Covid-19 cases resulting in lockdown relaxations. The schools are being reopened following all Covid-19 protocols and guidelines.

Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh had said if the pandemic situation was under control in the coming weeks, students of the remaining classes would also be allowed to attend physical classes from August 2.

When will school reopen in Goa 2021?

Goa government has decided to reopen schools for Classes 7 and 8. Following the government’s order, the schools will commence offline classes from November 25, 2021.

The government of Goa has announced its decision to reopen the schools for the students from class 9 to 12 from Monday, i.e. October 18, 2021. Earlier, Goa was planning to allow students of Class 10 and 12 to attend physical classes before August 15. Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant had said the state education department had been asked to conduct a study and ascertain when students can be physically called to schools, which were closed in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. He said, "I am expecting that students of Classes 10 and 12 should be able to attend physical classes before August 15."

When will school reopen in Maharashtra 2021?

From December 15, the schools in Mumbai reopened. However, it is likely that schools in Maharashtra may close again if Omicron cases rise, School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad said. Saying that the government of Maharashtra is monitoring the situation, Gaikwad said to ANI, “If Omicron cases continue to rise, we may take a call to shut the schools again. We are monitoring the situation.”

 Earlier, the reopening of schools was delayed from December 1, 2021, due to the Omicron threat.

The government of Maharashtra has announced the reopening of schools in the state from December 1. The government states that it has decided to reopen schools after conducting a survey by the state’s school education department which revealed that more than 70 per cent parents want schools to be reopened. In order to prevent the COVID-19 spread, the authorities have decided to run schools in shifts of 3 to 4 hours and students will be called in stages.

The Maharashtra government has announced its decision to reopen schools for Classes 1 to 4 in rural areas and 1 to 7 in urban areas from December 1. 

Maharashtra School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad has announced a two-week Diwali vacation for all state-run schools. Considering that the COVID-19 cases may rise during the festive season, the education department of Maharashtra decided on a Diwali vacation from October 28 to November 10, 2021. The directive released by the government is applicable to all classes, i.e. from Kindergarten to Class 12.

The government of Maharashtra on September 24, 2021, decided to reopen schools for all from October 4. The education minister of the state, Varsha Gaikwad said that the education department has received approval from chief minister Uddhav Thackeray on the decision of reopening schools for Classes 8 to12 in urban areas and Classes 5 to 12 in rural areas.

Maharashtra School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad has said on September 1 that new SOPs and school reopening guidelines will be discussed. She also added that the expert panel has been set up by the government to advise on the reopening of schools has suggested some changes. 

"Schools in areas where coronavirus cases are under control can restart physical classes for Std 5-12th in rural areas & 8-12th in urban areas from Aug 17. Safe resumption of schools is being considered to ensure all students have equal access to education amidst the pandemic," Ms Gaikwad had earlier tweeted with the SOP.

 

Maharashtra Education minister Varsha Gaikwad had earlier tweeted, "As a first step, villages which have not had #Covid-19 cases for more than a month and where the gram panchayat resolves to adopt Covid appropriate behaviour in consensus with parents/guardians will be permitted to reopen Std. 8-12th classrooms from July 15 onwards."

On July 5, the Maharashtra government passed a resolution to reopen schools for Classes 8 to 12 in "COVID-19-free gram panchayats". The schools can reopen after discussing with parents and are required to strictly adhere to the COVID-appropriate standard operating procedure (SOP), as per a media reports.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had earlier gave permission to the School Education Department to evaluate the possibility of re-opening schools. The permission is only for the villages which have been Covid free for a considerable number of days and past few months. He has also asked the authorities to ensure that re-opening is done under strict COVID protocols.

Maharashtra -- One of the states to be worst hit by COVID-19 second wave in the country. The government of Maharashtra had announced summer vacation from May 1 to June 13. From June 14, the state resumed the online classes for many students except those in Vidarbha region.  As per the school reopens in Maharashtra latest news, the online classes in Vidarbha region will begin after June 26.

Maharashtra School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad said Government will ensure to bring back all children who have dropped out of school due to this pandemic. She also said that decision on reopen schools in Maharashtra will be taken discussing with the state health department and reviewing the COVID-19 situation.

Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) has earlier cancelled the Maharashtra Board SSC exams 2021 and Maharashtra Board HSC Exams 2021 due to spike in COVID-19 cases. 

When will school reopen in Tamil Nadu 2021?

As per reports, TN schools are likely to reopen for classes 6 to 12 from January 3, 2022.

Amid the declining cases of the novel coronavirus, the Tamil Nadu government had decided to reopen schools for students of Classes 1 to 8 from November 1.  However, due to heavy rains and flood situation in the state the school were not opened. Schools, colleges and polytechnics in Tamil Nadu reopened from September 1 onwards. Classes 9 to 12 were also reopened by following all necessary precautions. School and college hostels have been allowed to function. Chief Minister of the State M K Stalin arrived at this decision after reviewing the Covid-19 situation with medical experts.

The Tamil Nadu government has also released the SOPs for the reopening of schools. As per the SOPs released, schools can have only 50 per cent of students in one class at any given point in time. 

Both students and staff working in schools have to follow all the COVID-19 guidelines mentioned in the SOP. Eligible students and staff must be vaccinated and entry will be prohibited for all the symptomatic teachers, students, or non-teaching staff.

"Considering the opinion of various sections, it has been proposed to re-start schools for Classes 9, 10, 11 and 12 with 50 per cent of students from September 1 in adherence to Covid-19 standard operating procedure," Mr Stalin had said.

When will school reopen in Madhya Pradesh 2021?

In view of the declining number of COVID-19 cases in the state, the Madhya Pradesh government has announced the reopening of schools for all classes with 100 percent capacity. Earlier, the government allowed school reopening with 50 percent capacity for Classes 1 to 5 and with 100 percent capacity for Classes 8, 10 and 12.

Madhya Pradesh School Education Department reopened the schools in the state from September 20. As per the orders, the school were reopened for Classes 1 to 5 with 50 per cent capacity, whereas Classes 8, 10, 12 will reopen with 100 per cent students in attendance. The board also announced that the plans to reopen the hostels or residential schools for the students with 50 per cent capacity. 

Schools in MP have reopened for classes 6 to 12 from September 1. The schools reopened with 50 percent capacity. The classes for standard 9 to 12 are being held twice a week. The decision on resumption of classes for standard 1 to 5 will be taken on the basis of the situation after one week.

Schools in Madhya Pradesh resumed offline classes from July 26. While Class 11 students will attend physical classes on Tuesdays and Fridays, Class 12 students will attend school on Mondays and Thursdays. Students of Classes 9 and 10 will be able to attend physical classes from August 5.

Colleges in Madhya Pradesh will be allowed physical classes from August 1 at 50 per cent capacity. Educational institutions in Madhya Pradesh have been kept closed for more than a year now due to the COVID-19 situation in the state and country. However, with cases declining steadily in the state, students are curious to know when will school reopen in MP 2021. 

The Madhya Pradesh Government had earlier announced that it will allow the children orphaned by Covid to apply for free admission in private schools.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had earlier announced the cancellation of MP Board 12th examinations 2021. MP Board 12th Result 2021 has been announced on the basis of the evaluation policy released by the Board earlier. On May 14, the state board had cancelled the MP Board Class 10 examinations in light of the pandemic. MP Board 10th Result 2021 was announced on July 14, 2021. 

The Madhya Pradesh Government on June 22, said that the government will set up as many as 9,200 “high-quality and well-equipped” schools to improve the quality of education in the state. The schools will be made functional within three years and it has been decided that they will be built every 15 kilometers in each district. The cabinet today has approved Rs 6,952 crore for the first phase of this scheme.

School Reopen In Rajasthan Latest News

Diwali breaks have been cancelled in Rajasthan Schools. Keeping in mind the loss of learning in students, the Rajasthan Government has cancelled long Diwali breaks in the state schools. In an official notice, the Rajasthan Secondary Education Department has cancelled all holidays barring the gazetted holidays in the state. The decision has been taken to make up for time lost by students in due to long closure of schools in the state.

The state government has given its nod for the phased reopening of schools. From September 27, schools for classes 1st to 5th reopened.  Schools in Rajasthan were reopened for classes 6th to 8th on September 20, 2021. For Classes 1 to 5, the schools will be reopened from September 27, 2021. Schools for classes 1 to 8 will reopen at 50 per cent capacity, as per the official notice. Attendance has not been made mandatory yet, and only those students who wish to attend offline classes will be allowed to come to school. As per the order, schools will be reopened with 50 per cent capacity. Both teaching and non-teaching staff should have received at least the first dose of vaccination.  

The government of Rajasthan has decided to follow the winter timings (10 am to 4 pm) from October 16, said the Department of Education, Rajasthan. Earlier, the schools used to begin following winter timings from October 1 but this year, Secondary Education Rajasthan, Bikaner has decided to postpone the date to October 16. Schools in the state will follow the summer timings until October 15.

Minister of school education, Govind Singh Dotasra on July 12 had tweeted, "Taking a big decision in the interest of students today, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has decided to open schools, colleges and coaching institutes from 1st September 2021. At present, all schools from class 9 to class 12 will open with 50% capacity. The Education Department will soon issue a detailed guideline in this regard." 

Earlier, the Minister on July 22 informed the school reopening date but on July 24, after declaring Class 12 board results, said the decision will be revisited.

"After discussing all the aspects in the meeting of the Cabinet Committee constituted to prepare a detailed SOP regarding the opening of the school, the Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said he will decide on the date and nature of the school opening," the minister tweeted. As of now, there is no update on Rajasthan school reopening.

When will school reopen in Haryana 2021?

In view of the declining cases of the novel coronavirus, the state government has decided to reopen all government and private schools in Haryana from December 1. Considering the air pollution in the National Capital Region (NCR), the state government of Haryana has announced the closure of all government and private schools in four districts, i.e. Gurugram, Faridabad, Sonipat and Jhijar, starting from November 15. 

The Haryana government has announced that the schools will reopen for Classes 4th and 5th from September 1, 2021, onwards. The decision has been taken considering the decline in the number of COVID-19 cases in the state. 

The state schools have started physical classes with strict COVID-19 protocols for classes 1 to 3 from September 20, 2021. However, attending physical classes has not been made compulsory for the students. The Haryana Government has reopened the schools in a phased manner from today, 16th July 2021. The schools have reopened for classes 9th to 12th. Although, attendance is not mandatory and schools have been advised to follow social distancing protocols. All the SOPs and COVID-19 appropriate behaviour has to be ensured in the schools.

The Haryana government has decided to conduct the internal assessment for HBSE Class 12 students of the state board, announced the state education minister Kanwar Pal earlier. The decision has been taken after the centre cancelled the Class 12th exams and decided to calculate results based on the internal assessments. The Board had cancelled the HBSE Class 10 exams this year due to rising Covid-19 cases in the state. On June 11, Haryana Board of Secondary Education (HBSE) had declared the HBSE 10th Result 2021.

School reopen in Telangana 2021

The State Government had decided to reopen schools in the state for classes eighth and above from September 1. However, the Telangana HC had stayed the state government's decision and said that physical classes are not mandatory. The state govt was directed to file a detailed report on measures taken to reopen schools across the state within a week.

The School Education Department of Telangana on September 8, issued SOP's regarding the reopening of schools in Telangana. The department has also asked the private school managements do not increase fees during the current academic year. The SOPs also included that schools can not compel students to attend offline classes.  Wearing masks, sanitizing hands are mandatory all the time. 

The state government had earlier directed all the schools across the state to reopen from July 1 with full readiness.  TRSMA president Y Shekhar Rao had said, "It would be better if schools are reopened in a phase-wise manner instead of resuming physical classes for all students from July 1."

With a drop in new COVID-19-positive cases, Telangana state has lifted the lockdown. 

This year, due to COVID19 pandemic, the Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education had cancelled the TS Inter exams 2021 for both 1st and 2nd year. The Board had released the evaluation criteria to assess students. On May 21, 2021, TS SSC Results 2021 were declared. Since the exams were cancelled this year, the students have been allotted marks on the basis of internal examinations. 

When will school reopen in Assam 2021?

The government of Assam has decided to reopen all residential school hostels in the state from November 1. According to the latest order issued by the state education, for students of Classes 1 to 8, hostels will reopen from November 1 while Classes 9 and 11 students will be allowed to enter hostels from October 19. 

The schools have been reopened in the state for class 10 students from September 20, 2021. However, only 50 per cent students will be allowed at a time in the class. 

Education Minister Ranoj Pegu had earlier announced that the schools across Assam may reopen from September 1. He had also shared a revised notification on the timeline and weightage of internal exams, 2021-22 for classes 11 and 10, where it was mentioned that schools may reopen in September.

The Assam government had earlier decided to keep all schools across the state closed for offline classes even after the summer vacation which ended on June 14. The government had taken the decision due to the prevailing COVID-19 situation in the state and asked authorities to take steps to conduct online classes.

When will school reopen in Karnataka 2021?

Karnataka government has announced that the schools across the state will reopen from October 25 for classes 1 to 5 amid the sustained decline in COVID-19 cases. After considering the recommendation made by the COVID-19 technical advisory committee, the government has said that the schools will be allowed to reopen for offline classes while strictly adhering to COVID-19 appropriate behaviour and SOPs.

 After reviewing the coronavirus situation, the Karnataka government reopened the schools in the state from September 6. The  Karnataka Education Minister BC Nagesh had earlier announced that the classes from 6 to 8 will resume in talukas with COVID positivity rate below 2 per cent starting from September 6. He further added that the classes will be held 5 days a week with 50 per cent attendance.

As per the latest information on Karnataka school reopening, the government has allowed schools to reopen only in those districts where the COVID-19 positivity test rate is less than 2 percent. Following the announcement by Chief Minister Basavaraj S Bommai the schools will reopen for Classes 9, 10 and pre-University courses from August 23, 2021. 

"We have discussed the current COVID situation, also some directions have come at the all-India level about the possible increase or decrease in the positivity rate in the days to come, based on that we have come to certain decisions," Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai had announced earlier.

Primary and secondary school education minister, BC Nagesh on August 9 said: “The Chief Minister had several meetings with the concerned people - task force, doctors and educationalists. After considering all their opinions, seeing the future of the students - schools have to be started. So we are taking all extra care.”

Unlike, many other states who have cancelled the Board Exams 2021, Karnataka has decided to conduct the Karnataka SSLC examination 2021.The Karnataka 2nd PUC exams 2021 have been cancelled while the state board will be conducting the Karnataka SSLC in the third week of July, if the situation is feasible.

When will school reopen in Uttar Pradesh 2021?

Schools in Ghaziabad, Meerut and some other districts of Uttar Pradesh, UP will not be shut anymore due to the problem of Air Pollution in Delhi NCR. As per recent updates from Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board, the order for closing of educational institutions has been withdrawn on November 17, 2021. 

After reopening schools for Classes 9 to 11, the Uttar Pradesh government had directed the schools to reopen for Classes 6 to 8 from August 23 and Classes 1 to 5 from September 1. Schools in Uttar Pradesh reopened on August 16 for higher and intermediate classes. Only 50 per cent of students were allowed to attend schools as per an order by the government.

Schools in Uttar Pradesh were also set to reopen from August 23 but were deferred due to the death of former chief minister Kalyan Singh. The state observed a public holiday under the three-day mourning period in a mark of respect for the departed leader. 

Earlier, the schools were reopened to complete the admission process, distribution of free books and maintenance.  The government has allowed only teachers and administrative staff to visit the schools. Students can complete their admission process of the new academic session.

On June 3, 2021, the UP Board Class 12 examinations 2021 were cancelled amid the second wave of COVID-19. On May 29, the UP Board Class 10 examinations were cancelled too due to same reason. The UP Board 10th Result 2021 as well as UP Board 12th Result 2021 have been announced as per the evaluation policy formulated by the Board.

When will school reopen in Odisha 2021?

The Odisha government has decided to resume offline classes for students of classes 1 to 5 from January 3 onwards. The announcement regarding the school reopening in Odisha was made by School and Mass Education Minister S R Dash after Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik directed officials to make preparations on war-footing to deal with a possible third wave of COVID-19 following the detection of at least eight cases of Omicron variant in the state.

Schools in Odisha reopened from October 21, for both English and Odia medium. After a gap of 18 months, the schools will resume physical classes for Class 11 students from October 21 and for Class 8 students from October 25 onwards. 

The BSE Odisha had earlier cancelled the Odisha Class 10 exams and declared the Odisha HSC Result 2021 on the basis of internal assessment. The CHSE Odisha Class 12 examinations were also cancelled. The Chief Minister had directed that the Council of Higher Secondary Education to release the Odisha 12th Result 2021 within the stipulated time according to well-defined Objective Criteria.

Bihar School Reopening news 2021

As per the latest school reopening news, schools in Bihar have been reopened for students of Class 1 to 9 while adhering to COVID-19 norms.As per the notification, classes in both online and offline mode will run simultaneously. Parents will be given choice to choose from either of the models, said a senior officer in the Bihar education department. The school reopened in Bihar with 50 per cent attendance, special arrangements will be made for vaccination for adult students, teachers and staff of educational institutions. 

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced the reopening of anganwadis and primary schools in the state amid the declining cases of the novel coronavirus. After analysing the COVID-19 situation in the state, the government announced various relaxations and reopenings. In a series of tweets, Bihar CM stated that anganwadis and primary schools will be reopened in the state from November 15.  

Earlier, state Education Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary has said that the school might resume classes from July if the situation is good. However, schools will have to ensure that all COVID-19 protocols are followed. Unlike other states, Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) was able to complete both BSEB 10th and BSEB 12th exams before the second wave of COVID-19 had hit. On April 5, the BSEB 10th Result 2021 was released and on March 26, BSEB 12th Result 2021 was released.

When will school reopen in Himachal Pradesh 2021?

Himachal Pradesh government has announced that it has decided to keep the schools across the state closed until September 21, 2021. As per the order issued by the state government, schools in the state will be kept closed considering the possibility of the COVID-19 third wave and the number of cases in the state.  However, the decision is not applicable to the residential schools in the state.

The Himachal Pradesh government has deferred the decision to reopen the schools from August 28 and to keep schools closed till September 4, 2021 owing to the COVID-19 situation in the state. Earlier, the Revenue Department of the state's Disaster Management Cell, had directed the schools in the state to remain closed till August 28. Only teaching and non-teaching staff will be allowed to attend the school, the order stated.

Residential schools, however, will continue to function while following the strict COVID-19 guidelines issued by the state education department.

Himachal Pradesh government had earlier decided to close schools except for residential schools till August 22. On August 2, the schools were opened for Classes 10 and 12 in the state and now they will be closed till August 22. However, teaching and non-teaching staff shall attend the school. The education department shall frame SOPs for the residential schools to contain COVID-19.

While school was reopened for Class 10 and 12,  students of Class 5 and Class 8 were allowed to visit the schools for doubt clearance. The state government has taken this decision due to the decline in COVID 19 cases in the state. The decision to reopen Himachal Pradesh Schools was taken during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Jairam Thakur. 

Earlier, the Himachal Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (HPBOSE) had cancelled HPBOSE 12th exams and HPBOSE 10th exam.   

When will school reopen in Kerala 2021?

While the government of Kerala announced the reopening of schools in the state from November 1, 2021, more than 2,000 teachers in Kerala are yet to be vaccinated. Education Minister V Sivankutty said that many of these unvaccinated teachers have cited their religious faith as among the reasons for not getting the jab.

Kerala government has put on hold its decision to reopen the schools and colleges as of now and postponed it until October 25, 2021. As per reports, the decision comes in wake of the flood-loke situation in many districts of the state. 

Kerala will reopen schools across the state from November 1. Education Minister V Sivankutty has said that a comprehensive plan is being prepared in consultation with various stakeholders for the re-opening of educational institutions.

"A discussion with Health Minister was held regarding the matter and schools authorities have been requested for the preparedness. The plan will be prepared and submitted to the Chief Minister before October 15," Education Minister said.

The Kerala government had earlier said that it will consider reopening of schools in a phased manner after students are vaccinated against COVID-19. However, reopening of the schools is subject to approval of the Union government and COVID-19 expert agencies, Kerala General Education minister V Sivankutty said.

"Once we get necessary approval of the union government and concerned COVID-19 expert committees and agencies, the state government will consider the option of reopening the schools in a phased manner," the minister said.

When will school reopen in Manipur?

Chief Minister N. Biren Singh has announced that offline lectures can resume for students of classes 9 to 12. While the date has not been announced yet, he mentioned that offline classes may begin within a week.  

The Manipur Board has cancelled the Manipur HSLC as well as the Manipur Class 12 examinations 2021 due to COVID-19. The announcement was made separately by the Council of Higher Education Manipur (COHSEM), which conducts the Class 10 board examinations, and the Board of Secondary Education (BOSEM) that conducts the Class 12 exams. The Manipur board had also suspended the physical classes for all schools in the state until further orders.

School reopening in Andhra Pradesh 2021

Schools in Andhra Pradesh reopened on August 16. The government decided to reopen schools for intermediate or class 12. Attendance has not been made mandatory for offline classes yet and online classes would continue.

The government plans to start schools according to the National Education Policy (NEP 2020) by introducing six types of schools — from Pre-Primary (PP)-1 to class 12, officials said. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had directed officials to complete the process of revamping schools according to the NEP system by August 16.

Earlier, AP education minister Adimulapu Suresh said, “We are chalking out plans to reopen schools in August. How we start the classes depends on the third wave of Covid-19. If we feel it is not safe for students, then we might consider staggering timings and 50 per cent attendance on alternate days. But these are still under discussion. The final call will be taken later." The government is also considering opening schools in two batches with 50 per cent attendance, as per media reports.

Andhra Pradesh extends summer vacation for schools till June 30, 2021. The government also reviewing the COVID-19 situation in the state. It is expected that board will continue online classes until then.
