According to the official reports, the schools in the state for Classes 9 and 12 and the medical colleges will reopen from September 1, 2021, in Tamil Nadu with 50 percent student capacity in each class.

TN Schools Reopening: Tamil Nadu state government has released a set of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for school reopening in the state. The government has decided to reopen schools for students of Classes 9 to 12. According to the official reports, the schools in the state for Classes 9 and 12 and the medical colleges will reopen from September 1, 2021, in Tamil Nadu with 50 percent student capacity in each class.

Tamil Nadu School Reopening: SOPs Issued

The authority has directed the students and staff members in schools to follow all the COVID-19 related guidelines mentioned in the SOP issued. 18+ Students and staff members are also required to be vaccinated before joining the school. Entry will be prohibited for symptomatic teachers, students, and non-teaching staff members.

Schools in Tamil Nadu have also been asked to screen themselves within a week of reopening for which the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram team will be used. Other PHC teams will be mobilized as per requirements. Following social distancing in and around the school premises is also mandatory for all. Seating will be arranged for the students with a gap of 6 feet between them or a single student will be seated at each desk. According to the SOPs issued, the schools can also conduct classes in the temporary outdoor spaces in order to ensure social distancing among the students. Physical distancing is also required to be followed at the time of entry and exit in school. Schools are also required to prepare a timetable for the same.

The department has also directed schools to follow social distancing in offices, staff rooms, school premises and school transportation vehicles. Maintaining sanitization process in all these areas is also a must!
