Telangana School Reopening: The government of Telangana had planned to reopen educational institutions from September 1. However, reports suggest that the state High Court on Tuesday, i.e. August 31 put a stay on the state government’s order to commence offline classes in the educational institutions from September. Amid the increasing cases of the novel coronavirus, educational institutions were shut in the state. However, on August 24, the Telangana government announced its decision to commence offline classes in all government and private educational institutions, including Anganwadi centres in the state. It stated that these institutions will reopen from September 1.

Reports suggest that while speaking at the meeting, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had said: “The education system in the state has suffered a lot because of the prevailing situation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In this wake, we have studied the measures and strategies of different states in the country to reopen educational institutions.”

He further added, “We have discussed with the medical and the Health Department, who gave reports that the COVID-19 situation is much under control than the previous months. The public moment is also coming to normalcy gradually.”

In order to maintain cleanliness, the minister also ordered to maintain proper sanitization. The institutions received orders to constantly clean premises, water tanks and classrooms. The principal or headmaster also received instructions to immediately take action in case any student show symptoms. Such students are directed to be taken to the nearest Primary Health Centre (PHC) for a COVID test.
