Sanghamitra B.Ed College, Jharkhand offers a two-year full-time course in B.Ed (Bachelor of Education) with about 100 seats every year. B.Ed is an undergraduate degree that opens job opportunities in the field of education. The college offers specialisations in all subjects such as English, Hindi, Urdu, Sanskrit, Physical Science, Life Science, Mathematical Science, Home Science, History, Civics, Economics, Geography, Commerce and the tribal languages which are a part of the school curriculum. 

Courses in SMTTC 

Sanghamitra B.Ed College, Jharkhand offers only a full-time B.Ed Course which is of two years. The college follows the syllabus of Ranchi University prescribed for a regular B.Ed Degree. The course details along with eligibility criteria are given below:

The two-year curriculum of the B.Ed Course consists of papers including psychology, education, language, philosophy and method papers (such as English, Hindi, Science or any other school subject). Besides these theory papers, the curriculum also consists of various extracurricular activities and a school internship of 4 weeks and 16 weeks in the first and second year respectively. 

Admission Procedure

Sanghamitra B.Ed College’s admission process is completely online for its t two-year B.Ed Course. Admissions are based on merit in the entrance test conducted by the Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination (JCECE). JCECEB accepts applications from students from across Jharkhand.

For the application process, candidates are required to register on the official website of the JCECEB. Each candidate will be given a unique id and password to complete the process. After logging in, the candidates can fill out the application form with all the required details and submit it. Following the submission of the application, admit cards are issued to students who wish to apply for admission. The merit list is published after the entrance test and counselling rounds begin. Candidates are allotted colleges as per their ranks. In case, a student is not interested in the allotted college, he/ she can participate in the counselling rounds again. However, students are required to pay for each counselling round they wish to participate in. 

Even if seats remain vacant after 4-5 rounds of counselling, the council opens the seats for direct admission. A course admission process is discussed below:

Preference during admission will be given to the candidates as per the norms laid down by the JCECEB. However, to be eligible for the preference list, all candidates are required to appear for the entrance examination. 

B.Ed Fees at SMTTC

Sanghamitra B.Ed College charges nominal fees as any other B.Ed College in Jharkhand. Besides the total fees, the college also charges registration and examination fees and for university examinations held twice during this course. Students also need to pay for lesson plans and files that are mandatory for both years. There is a strict rule for the uniform and the college provides the same after payment. Students using bus services will also have to pay transportation fees. As the B.Ed syllabus also includes two trips in the curriculum, extra charges for those are also counted.

The charges for the first year are to be paid at the time of admission by Bank cheque/ D.D. in favour of SMTTC at the Ranchi city office. The fee once paid is non-refundable once the student secures admission. SC/ ST & OBC candidates get the benefit of INR 10,000 in tuition fees. Candidates from special categories get compensation in tuition fees:

• Candidates of either sex belonging to the Buddhist Community get compensation of INR 10,000.
• Widows/ Divorcee/ Spinsters/ Girls from orphanages & deserted get compensation of INR 8,000.      

Placements after B.Ed. in SMTTC

While some of the colleges may provide placements at private schools after course completion, Sanghamitra B.Ed College does not have any placement process. However, the students may take TET or CTET examinations in order to qualify for government teaching jobs. They may further opt for higher education like a Master in Education. But if the candidates are interested in getting a job right away, they can also apply at some private schools for they are eligible to teach from standard sixth to tenth. Candidates can also opt for the role of Counsellor, Content Writer, Educational Researcher, Principal, Tutor or Librarian.

The students of Sanghamitra B.Ed College, Jharkhand can apply for various scholarships provided by the central or the state government: ‘E- Kalyan’, provided by the state government or the national level scholarship provided by the central government.
