To help the Bihar board Class 10 and 12 students, the Bihar Education Project Council (BEPC) will offer online career counselling sessions, in association with UNICEF. The online counselling sessions would be useful for students considering that all educational institutes and other consultancy centres are closed amid nationwide lockdown on account of COVID-19 pandemic. The sessions will commence from April 9 on YouTube. BEPC State programme officer Kiran Singh informed that it will be an hour-long live counselling session and will be available every Thursday at 4 pm from April 9 to May 7. To apprise the students about multiple career options after class 10 and 12 examinations, the BEPC has proposed five sessions.

She informed that based on student’s preference, the experts would offer advise to students. Students can join the live session free of cost. Experts will speak on several traditional and vocational courses and elaborate on their scopes. She further stated that students could also ask their queries through the comment box, which would be answered at the end of the session. According to the schedule released by BEPC, the topics for the sessions are: what after school, vocational/ diploma oriented careers and its scope, career portal orientation, career options in education and teaching and career options in medical.

To financially support their education, the students will also be informed about multiple scholarships that they can avail. Last year, in August, BEPC had unveiled state’s first career portal offering information about 955 scholarships, 460 professional careers, 1,050 entrance examinations and 6,400 institutions of higher education across the country for the students.
