To ensure the safety of students, the schools might ask them to wear masks, said Kerala Health Minister.
Kerala Health Minister KK Shailaja has said that once the school reopens in the state, the students might have to continue wearing a mask.
Many countries have implemented the practice of students using masks during their school hours due to coronavirus pandemic. The step has been taken to protect the students from deadly coronavirus or any such viruses in the future, she said.
While explaining the need for using masks for the school students she said it is a good culture and Kerala will follow the same. The use of masks as directed by the World Health Organisation (WHO) will help in containing the coronavirus spread.
Earlier, the Kerala Education Board had announced that it will conduct the Kerala SSLC Board and Kerala 12th Board 2020 examination a week after the lockdown is lifted. The exams were postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak in the country. The revised schedule is expected to be released by the board officials soon.
While the number of cases of coronavirus has crossed the 40,000 marks in the country, no new cases have been reported in the state in the past two days. The state has a total number of 401 recovered cases while 95 are still under treatment in the different hospitals in the state.
There are a total of 84 hotspots in the state of Kerala among the list of hotspots in the state the districts of Wayanad and Idukki districts have one hotspot each while there are two in Ernakulam District.
Looking at the rising number of coronavirus cases in the country, the Centre has recently extended the nationwide lockdown until May 17.
