Flying schools can’t admit students without compliance reportLearning to fly is one of the most adventurous things one could ever do in life. No wonder, the Aviation sector offers exciting career opportunities to aspirants. However, as with any other discipline, before taking admission in a flying school, one must gather enough information about the institute and the training it provide to students.

You must know that from early this year, it is made mandatory for all aviation institutes in the country to submit their civil aviation requirement (CAR) compliance report. Institutes not fulfilling this requirement are not allowed to enroll fresh students in their courses.

Despite directives issues by The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in this regard, a majority of the 45 flying institutes in the country have been unable to submit their civil aviation requirement (CAR) compliance report.

As per the revised rules, all the aviation institutes have to maintain an instructor-pupil ratio of 1:30, and a trainer cannot teach more than two subjects. The revised rules require the library of the institute to have a set of course books for every 10 students.

Students looking to join one of these flying schools will have to wait now as CAR non-compliant institutes are barred from enrolling fresh batch of students unless they submit the CAR compliance reports. To inform students about the issue, DGCA has issued a public notice on its official website that will help students to check whether an institute has submitted the mandatory reports or not. So, one must understand the gravity of the situation and check the status of an institute before getting trapped.

After the fake pilot scam last year, some surprise audits were held to check at least 40 flying training schools across the country. DGCA also found some inadequacy in the functioning of flying schools and decided to take steps to enhance the level of training.

Therefore, to ensure that you are in the right hands to shape your aviation career, do check the affiliation status and standard of the institute and background of the instructors.
