Aviation Law and Management: A Programme for Skilled Manpower in Aviation Industry

A one-year PG Diploma in Aviation Law and Air Transport Management (PGDALATM) has been introduced by NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad, and Institute of Applied Aviation Management (IAAM), Calicut (nalsar.ac.in/www.iaam.ac.in). This programme is a unique amalgamation of two distinct streams, law & management, and this one-year course would be taught through on-site and online modules.

The programme is taught on varied locations such as in Mumbai, Kolkata, Cochin, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Delhi. All the examinations are conducted by NALSAR, and the institute awards the degree to all the students, who successfully complete this programme.

The course entails two papers on air transport management, two papers on aviation law coupled with a dissertation, which needs to be prepared during the term of the course. Also, the programme encompasses mock exercises, case study analysis etc. for which the attendance is mandatory throughout the sessions. E-learning sessions and submission of online project assignments follow these exercises.

Any candidate holding a bachelor's degree in any discipline is eligible to apply for this course. Also, the candidates are supposed to clear group discussions and interview rounds. Post completion of the course, job training session of one-month duration at airports/airlines in United Arab Emirates; however, the students are supposed to bear the travel & accommodation expenses on their own. Also, also an executive PGDALATM for working professionals in aviation industry is available with a course fee of Rs. 50,000.

The course fee for PGDALATM is Rs 60,000, which can be conveniently paid in two installments of Rs. 40,000 and then Rs. 20,000. V. Balakista Reddy, Head, Centre for Air and Space Law, NALSAR, says, "The course is a value-added based qualification, which would help aspirants attain a competitive edge and acquire coveted placements in the global aviation industry."
