By 2029, India will be the 3rd largest aviation market
Over the years, Indian Aviation industry has made a tremendous growth. The aviation industry is a complete mix of development, operations, and management of aircrafts. In India, it is a highly promising sector which generates number of jobs. According to the latest report of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the Indian aviation market has tripled in the last five years.
According to Airports Council International (ACI), it is expected that Indian aviation market will take the No. 3 position by 2029. Improved rankings and the implementation of right policies could lead to this growth. Rafael Echevarne, Director, Economics and Programme Development, Airports Council International said that India has also improved its rank largely in terms of airport maintenance, traffic handling and passenger facilities.
He added that there is an immediate need to design a regulatory framework and that will encourage investment, ensure safety, and will facilitate development of tourism. Amber Dubey, Director Aviation, KPMG, knowledge partner of India Aviation 2012 said that there are many positive steps taken by the government are:
- Setting up an full-fledged aviation university
- Formulating an air cargo promotion policy
- Investments in MRO hubs
He added that keeping in mind the increasing ratio of air passengers in the country, there is an immediate need to build up no-frill airports in tier two and three cities. (Read more)
