By Richha Bhatnagar
Gujarat Technological University (GTU) is one of the leading universities in the country. Till date, students of aviation and aeronautical engineering received theoretical knowledge and studied aircraft instruments and avionics, mechanical systems, hydraulic systems through toy-like models.
GTU has decided to impart hands-on training to students on real plane. Soon students will be given practical lessons in complicated technology and airport civil works, infrastructure, equipment in real aircraft.
A month ago, GTU has inked a pact with Ahmedabad Aviation Aeronautics Limited (AAAL) to introduce practical training for aviation and aeronautical engineering students as well as teachers of the college. But now students can go to AAAL's facility at Mehsana for practical training in aircraft maintenance, construction of runways, airstrips and airports. AAAL has its own airstrip at Mehsana.
