Jet Airways to foray into aviation education
Jet Airways has plans to launch an aviation training academy to proffer certificate courses in in-flight services, ticket reservation and check-in services. It would be the second such initiative by a domestic airline company to foray into aviation education. Kingfisher was the first to start such a training institute in the year 2007.
The proposal includes launching a marketing services firm along with the aviation academy with a total investment of Rs one crore. The proposed academy will be established in Mumbai. However, the proposal needs regulatory approval besides clearance from the Foreign Investment Promotion Board and the Reserve Bank of India.
In the current economic situation, where domestic carriers are known to be incurring huge losses due to high taxes and high jet fuel prices, the move is expected to enhance the Jet group's revenue. Read more
