EAMCET 2014: Last minute tips to secure a good rank

Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test 2014 (EAMCET 2014) is scheduled to be conducted by Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), Hyderabad on behalf of APSCHE on May 22, 2014.

EAMCET 2014 is conducted to offer admissions to eligible candidates at government, private aided as well as professional colleges in Andhra Pradesh which offer engineering, medicine and agriculture related courses.

This state CET is a three hour duration entrance exam which contains a total of 160 multiple choice questions. Out of this number, 80 questions will be from Mathematics followed by 40 questions from Physics and the remaining 40 questions will be from Chemistry. Thus, in order to secure a good rank in EAMCET, candidates need to ace their Mathematics exam paper. However, this does not mean that they should work hard on their Physics and Chemistry sections.

In EAMCET 2014, for every correct answer candidates will be awarded one mark and there is no negative marking in this state CET.

To help you secure a good rank in EAMCET 2014, Shiksha.com brings you these last minute tips to guide you on how you can excel in your examination tomorrow.

Revise well

Go through all the important topics as well as formulae which you had studied earlier. It is a known fact that as you start covering more and different topics you tend to forget some aspects which you had studied earlier and it is at this point that revising your notes and flash cards would prove helpful in retaining facts and figures.

Go through important topics

Although it is necessary that you complete your syllabus before the exam, however, it is not humanely possible to go through each and every topic and it is at this time that you should consider going through some important topics from which maximum questions are expected to be included in the question paper and which in turn would earn you earn more marks. Some of the topics you should consider revising for EAMCET 2014 are:

Mathematics: Probability, permutations and combinations, matrices (determinants), circles, straight lines, general solutions, properties of triangles, differentiation and probability, integral calculus, vector algebra, trigonometric equations, definite differential calculus circles, mathematical induction, partial fractions, polar coordinates and random variables.

Physics: Units and dimensions, kinematics dynamics, gravitation, elasticity, hydrodynamics, thermodynamics, atomic physics, sound and general physics.

Chemistry: Atomic structure, periodic table, chemical bonding, acids and bases, solutions, chemical kinetics and thermodynamics.

Practice as much as you can

Try to solve as many questions as you can and try not to use calculators for any of your calculations. This would not only help increase your speed in solving questions but also boost your morale when at the end of a given time duration you are able to solve more questions in less time and that too accurately.

Work around your sleep pattern

Try to work around your daily routine if you are one of those people who sleep during the day and study till the wee hours of the morning. Since, EAMCET 2014 is scheduled to be conducted from 10 am to 1 pm; you need to be up and active in the morning. So, work around your daily routine by sleeping early a day before the exam.

Stay calm and relax

Yes, it is imperative to study hard before the exam but it is also true that you need to take regular breaks and give your mind a chance to relax. Over-using your brain a day before the exam is not the way to go. Rather you should take regular breaks and consider going for a walk outside or play any sport which will help you unwind and relax all at the same time.

Increase problem solving speed

Since, we already know that there is no negative marking in EAMCET 2014, the trick here to score a good rank is to accurately solve maximum questions. Also, if you are a little doubtful about 1-2 questions, we advise that you consider attempting them as well.

In EAMCET, you need to attempt 160 questions in three hours which means that you will be having less than a minute to solve a question and here speed is what is going to help you sail through. Also, instead of attempting to solve the questions completely, it is important to opt for shortcuts and tricks to obtain the solutions by eliminating your options.

Stay positive

At the end, you need to stay positive and focused while appearing for the exam and if you feel that you are getting stuck in a question, do not worry and leave it so that you can attempt it later if time so permits.

Shiksha.com wishes you all the best and guides you to stay calm, composed and focused for EAMCET 2014.
