The strategy that the students follow for the preparation of EAMCET (Engineering and Medicine Common Entrance Test) determines their success or failure in this elite exam.
So, instead of getting anxious it is important to make best possible utilization of every second that is left! EAMCET picks up questions form almost all topics and hence students must give equal preference to all topics as well as sections. But, since the weightage of mathematics is more as compared to Physics and Chemistry so it should be given more importance. Some of the tips which can prove fruitful include:
- Know your exam well: it is extremely important to know what exactly the requirement of the exam is. Since all the topics are covered in EAMCET, hence it is important to cover the entire syllabus. But even the simple topics fetch equal marks, so the areas which are quite simple and not vast must be prepared thoroughly. For instance, sections like Mathematical Induction, Partial Fractions, Polar Coordinates and Random Variables are the easiest topics in Mathematics, and hence students have to practice these topics early. A question is also generally asked from Units and Dimensions topic of Physics subject. Hence, these topics should be prepared in the beginning.
- Basic Concepts: If the basics are not clear, you cannot expect to attempt questions easily. Work hard on your basics, attempt several questions, refer previous year papers and try to nurture your foundations. Clear basics simplify the journey of preparation.
- Improve your numerical solving ability: Practice as much as you can. EAMCET, in particular tests your numerical solving ability and this can only improve with practice. Attempt a wide variety of questions and use various tips and tricks to save time.
- Revise side-by-side: As soon as you cover certain portion of your syllabus, keep on revising the absorbed matter as we tend to forget everything after some time. In fact, keep on practicing questions based on these concepts so that you retain the matter for longer duration.
- Prepare flash cards: While going through the chapters keep on highlighting the important facts or prepare flash cards for the formulae and vital facts. This proves beneficial at the time of revision as it saves time. They also help in retaining the facts quite easily.
- Sample papers: Practicing questions form EAMCET model papers or EAMCET previous papers is a must. This helps you in getting an idea about the types of questions asked in exam. Mock tests also help you in knowing your weak areas so that you can then work on them. Those who solve 1-2 sample papers on daily basis are sure to get through the exam quite easily.
- Study smartly: EAMCET is not a very tough exam and with a bit of smart work you can crack this exam quite easily. All three subjects are equally important. Moreover, there is no criterion of getting minimum marks in each subject for qualifying EAMCET and so aspirants need to work in a smart way by concentrating on subjects that are easy to them to get more marks and a rank below 1000.
- Time management: Due to high number of questions in EAMCET, time management is extremely important. Due to this students may face the pressure of completing the paper in the stipulated time period. Hence, it is important to work on speed in the phase of preparation so that speed does not become a hindrance on the day of the exam. Also, while sitting for the exam, it is important not to waste time on tough questions. The difficult questions should be attempted only at the end. Since there is no negative marking, instead of leaving any question, mark the same answer for all unknown questions to increase the probability of getting correct answers.
- Refreshment is equally important: Do not bury yourself in the four walls of your room. Plan a morning walk as it increases concentration. Don’t consider it a waste of time as it in fact increases your output. Take small breaks after revising certain portions. This aids in increasing the retention power by channelizing your energy and keeping your mind fresh.
How many hours you devote is not important, in fact what matters is the output in those hours. Prepare with full zeal and zest and you are sure to win this race!
