Q. Congratulations on your achievement. How are you feeling being the JEE Main 2017 topper with an AIR 1?

A. I am feeling extremely elated today. My teachers and parents both are very proud of me. They are really happy and it’s a happy time for us.

Q. Were you expecting to bag this rank?

A. Yes, I was expecting a very good rank. But getting 360 out of 360 was something I never expected. It’s like a dream come true. I would also like to tell you that I am first person in the history of this exam to score a complete 360.

Do not take much stress. It’s just an exam and not the end of the world. This does not decide your life.

Q. How long have you been preparing for?

A. I started preparing for JEE Main 2017 specifically from Class 11th. But, I have been studying very hard in Class 8th; ever since I joined Resonance.

Q. What was your preparation strategy for the exam? What is the minimum time frame needed to prepare for JEE Main?

A. I used to study in a very concentrated way in the class. I ensured that I study and solve the notes given by my teachers at Resonance and MDA on a regular basis. Moreover, I was very consistent and regular at my studies. I didn’t waste time in other activities.

I kept revising my study portions regularly so that I do not forget them. To improve my speed and accuracy, I took a lot of mock tests.

Talking about the minimum time frame required to prepare for this exam. I do not think anyone requires a minimum time frame. All that students need to do is have a clear concept. If they study in a concentrated way and do everything in planned manner, then 5 to 6 hours of study every day will do wonders. This does not include coaching classes and school.

Q. What did you do to improve your weak areas?

A. Actually, I didn’t develop a lot of weak areas as I was pretty regular at my studies. The moment I started having problems with any of the topics, I used to start practicing a lot of questions from the very same topic. This way, I automatically overcame my weak areas.

Q. What’s your strategy for JEE Advanced?

A. I have started revising all my topics again and I am full of confidence now. I would try and give my best shot at the exam.

Q. Which institute are you vying for and which is the course you aim to pursue?

A. I haven’t decided much on it but I guess I would want to get into IIT Bombay for Computer Science Engineering.

Q. Have you take any other exam/s besides JEE Main and JEE Advanced?

A. I have been appearing for competitive examination since Class 8th. I appeared for NTSE(National Talent Search Exam) and KVPY(Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana). I topped in NTSE stage I examination in Rajasthan. Besides these, I have also applied for BITSAT this year.

Q. Do you think coaching is required to crack JEE?

A. Joining a coaching institute helps but it’s not necessary to go to Kota or

If you believe in yourself and have the ability and capability, then you can crack the exam from anywhere. You need not go to Kota.

any other place to take coaching classes. One can join the coaching classes in the city they are living. Students can also clear JEE by self-study but it needs a lot of concentration.

Q. Any tips for aspirants taking the exam next year?

A. I would just like to say that – Focus completely on your studies and complete your homeworks and assignments regularly. Be consistent and hardworking.

Q. So, tell us something about your family?

A. My father is a nurse in a government hospital and my mother is a teacher in a government school. I have an elder brother who is pursuing his MBBS from AIIMS(All India Institute of Medical Sciences).

Q. What plans for the future? What do you want to become?

A. I haven’t decided or thought much about it but will decide once I am done with JEE Advanced.

Q. Tell us about yourself and your hobbies?

A. I like to listen to music and playing cricket and badminton. Whenever I get sometime, I surf the internet.
