Life at IIIT Delhi: Sprawling campus, lot of study pressure and flexible hostel timings

Sahil Jain from Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Delhi decodes how it is studying and staying at this engineering college. A fourth year student who is pursuing B.Tech in computer science, Sahil shares that classes at this engineering college generally start at 10 am and end by 5 pm.

He also revealed that there is a lot of study pressure at IIIT Delhi and students are usually busy with some or the other assignment or project. However, there is no concept of compulsory attendance. Students need to attend classes only if they want to and there is no pressure from the faculty or administration.

IIIT Delhi has a brand new campus which offers great hostel facilities to students. Each hostel room has a balcony and is equipped with an AC/heater. The hostel has 24 hours water and electricity supply and if students have some complain regarding the same, help arrives in 15 minutes flat.

There are no hostel timings and students have the freedom to move in and out of campus as per their own will and judgment.

But one aspect students desperately want to change is to get edible food in the mess. One of the worst dishes served include aloo methi and pumpkin.

Listen to this podcast Shiksha.com had with Sahil Jain to know how it is to live and study at IIIT Delhi.
