Public sector banks or PSUs are facing HR crunch these days. To meet their workforce requirements, nationalized banks will be hiring about 45,000 officers and staff members this year. PSU Bank Jobs 2011 opening offer a good opportunity for those who are preparing for Probationary Officer Exams or bank clerical jobs.

Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) will be assisting the PSU banks in selection and placement of candidates as it has been doing since 1984. IBPS also assists Reserve Bank of India in selection, placement and promotion of employees.

The large numbers of bank job opportunities owe themselves to aggressive marketing, branch expansions, and business growth taking place in the banking sector. Besides, banks are also introducing new financial products and entering into the fields of launching mutual fund schemes and distributing insurance policies and thus, require skilled personnel in different segments.

IBPS will be conducting centralized and standardized common entrance tests for vacancies at both the employees' and officers' level from July this year. Those who will qualify these entrance tests will be called by the banks for interview on the basis of their merit and will be judged on the basis of their scorecard.

SBI and its six associate banks have opted out of the process and conduct their own exams, as their requirements and benefits differ from other nationalized banks.
