5-year integrated course in vocational science at BAMU

Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (BAMU), Aurangabad is set to kick off a five-year integrated course in vocational science on an experimental basis in association with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of India (CMIA). To be launched as per the directives of AICTE and UGC, the program is expected to train the youth in specific trade to mainstream technical persons as well as innovators with excellent soft skill, industrial training and computer background from the academic year, 2013-14.

Likely to commence from June this year, this five-year course is designed with a flexible syllabus and is based on the requirements of the industry. The University will soon be conducting an entrance test for admissions to the course.

The courses will be run at the Centre for Vocational studies on the University campus. Listed below are different vocational courses and eligibility criteria for admission:

• Automobile/Pharma/Industrial automation/Information and Communication Technology

-          First class at XIIth Science with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics

• Finance , Banking & Insurance/ Travel and Tourism

-          First class at XIIth Science/Commerce/Arts

-          Students passing XIIth with Vocational course will be given preference to the respective trade

• Admission procedure: Admission will be given on the basis of performance in the aptitude test conducted by the centre
• Intake: 12 students per vocational trade (12x6=72)
• Category: Reservations will be applicable as per government rules and University regulations.
• Fee structure: The tuition fees per year will be Rs 20,000, and remaining fees will be consolidated Rs 5,000.
• Medium of Instruction: English
