DUs first cut-off list out
There has only been a marginal change in Delhi University's first cut-off list this year. With more students earning merit certificates in CBSE exams, a sharp increase in DU cut-offs was expected.
Commerce and humanities saw only a slight increase. In some cases, the cut-off for some courses even dipped. Science, however, was an exception.
Unhappy with the introduction of the semester system, DU teachers who normally help colleges arrive at the cut-offs abstained from the admission process this year. This forced many colleges to stick with last year's cut-offs. While colleges such as Ramjas stuck to last year's cut-offs, Hindu has only declared cut-offs for four courses.
Shri Ram College of Commerce increased Economics and B.Com (Honours) cut-offs by 0.5 per cent.
Humanities courses have also seen a slight increase. BA (pro- gramme), the most popular Humanities course, that received second highest number of applications this year, has seen an average rise of one per cent. The cut-off for English (Hons) in colleges that do not have a joint entrance exam (CATE), rose by up to two per cent.
