Indian banks require 50,000 trained people for various posts
Change is the demand of nature the new generation comes and replaces the older one. The new projects arrive and take place of the older one. Same is the case of vacancies in any sector. In order to meet the requirement of growth in public and private sector banks of India, they need to hire more people in next few years as large number of people is going to complete their tenure of service, so there will be huge demand for people in Banks. According to one source public and private sector banks are going to hire more than 45,000-50,000 people in next three-four years.
While these banks today employ around 7.25 lakhs of people. This new recruitment drive will be take place for the vacant places due to retirement of employees and also cause by the migration from one department to another. CH Venkatachalam, General Secretary, All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) and convener for the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) said, "Recruiting more people has now become a 'compulsion' for public sector banks (PSBs) as most of the employees working there had joined after 1970 and are near their retirement."
Leading the recruitment drive the SBI bank is going to hire around 4,500 offices and about 25,000 clerks, while its associate banks would hire another 1,700 officers. Bank of Baroda, the country's third largest State-run lender, is planning to recruit about 3,500 employees that would include around 1,800 to 2,000 officers.
Venkatachalam said, "With most banks entering diversified business segments, they need to recruit people and train them properly, as there are many changes taking place in the banking domain. Earlier, banks used to recruit people as clerks without any proper training in banking. But now they will have to change their hiring process as required."
The above number of recruitment is quite high. This is sure that the competition will be tough for the aspiring candidates who want to join the bank service. The jobs in bank considered as most desirable compared to other sectors. Besides regular bank jobs the banks are planning to hire business correspondents for their rural areas to boost up their business and to strengthen their grip in the rural market. For rural India SBI is planning to hire around 15,000 people. This is big recruitment drive from banks in near future and a good call for all aspiring candidates.
