Life at NISM Campus

Established by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) in 2006, National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) is an educational institute and an Indian public trust. Various academic programs, capacity building and skill development programs, and training programs is securities market are offered by the institute. Here is what the PGPSM 2015-16 league has to say about the life at NISM campus:

A few of us belonged to Engineering and Humanities and had only minimal knowledge with respect to securities markets. The course structure is designed in such a way as to enable students from various backgrounds to excel in class and develop into individuals with par excellence.

The idea of learning Securities Markets is redefined. There is a lot to learn specially in derivatives and risk management and Global Financial Markets. The PGPSM course provides a magnified learning experience with its spectacular SMART Lab and Special Topics covered during the course. The workshops are great at providing practical knowledge. We wish we had more time in the course.

Very Esteemed and Encouraging Faculty

With a very encouraging faculty, study is a mix of gaining knowledge through an exhaustive syllabus and a variety of innovative projects. Even the visiting faculty has been very supportive in terms of giving advanced knowledge in the field. The staff at the SMART lab is very encouraging in terms of teaching advanced techniques and not just simple trading practices.

Very Demanding in terms of Efforts

The course syllabus is broad and requires significant amount of time and attention.  There is no time for leisure except between terms. Lots of projects and certifications have to be completed and numerous workshops need to be attended during first three terms. The workshops are full of advanced and new things to learn.

 

The Library

The NISM library holds a rich collection of over 8500 books on finance, securities markets, domestic and

international magazines, newspapers, journals, etc. The Through Science-Direct, the library provides access to all leading academic journals in Finance, Economics, Business and Management.

Leisure hours!

There are ample of exciting extracurricular activities available and decent places that are worth visiting during leisure time. The leisure time is very short though. Stay at NISM Nivas (Hostel) is pretty comfortable with a very bright and safe locality. Notable are the two Malls (InOrbit and Raghuleela), a park near the hostel and the Gamdevi Mandir.

We wish the program was of a longer duration!!!
