With nine centres coming up in different parts of Delhi, Grewal Academy of Accounting Professionals (GAAP) will train college students in tax, accounts and finance. The institutes will start operations in the upcoming academic session and will offer one-year diploma courses in accounting related subjects.

“Everyone doesn’t become a chartered accountant, and other commerce graduates are normally not capable of taking up accounting profiles in the industry. To fill this gap for professionals, we have sought the opinion of experts to make an industry-oriented curriculum, which enables young graduates to become job-ready immediately after their graduation,” says Lalit Kumar, managing director, GAAP Education Ltd.

The team of experts that has contributed to the development of curriculum include PC Jain, principal of Sri Ram College of Commerce; Bharat Bhushan, associate professor, Hansraj College; Girish Ahuja, the famous tax expert, and SS Gulshan, former principal, Guru Gobind College of Commerce.

What are the job prospects after a 12-month diploma? “Besides classroom lectures, students will undergo an internship in a chartered accountancy firm, which will give them hands-on experience. After one month’s intensive training, they can earn Rs 8,000 per month at an entry level position. The designation and salary will, of course, rise with time and experience,” adds Kumar.
