In an exclusive interview with Shiksha.com, Shagun with 99.4% shared about her CBSE 10th board exam preparation routine, her reaction to Class 10 CBSE results, tips for upcoming aspirants and more. CBSE Board Exams 2024 were conducted from February 15 to March 13, 2024. The Board announced the CBSE Class 10 Results 2024 on May 13.

CBSE 10th Topper Shagun Samantarai has secured 99.4%, i.e. a total of 497 marks in CBSE 10th Board Exams 2024 without any coaching. Shagun, a student of SAI International School, Odisha, aims to crack the top medical entrance exam, NEET and pursue further studies in medical field at AIIMS. In an exclusive interview with Shiksha.com, Samantarai talked about her CBSE 10th board exam preparation routine, her reaction to Class 10 CBSE results, tips for upcoming aspirants and more.

Q: Congratulations on your result! How was your reaction after seeing the results? Did you score what you expected?
A: It came as a surprise to me and naturally I was happy seeing the results. I had expected a good score but never really thought I would get 99.4%.

Q: Please tell us something about your family background.
A: My family have always had a bent towards education and especially my grandparents who have always emphasized on the significance of education and I think that is what really kept me going. My mother and father have been a constant source of support and encouragement throughout.

Q: Please tell me about the stream that you are targeting.

A: I have taken the Science stream.

Q: What was your strategy to score above 95%?
A: Always aimed to achieve the best however there was no specific strategy to achieve 99%, my moto was always to be honest towards my studies.

Q: Did you take any online or offline coaching?
A: I have not taken any online or offline coaching as I strongly believe in self-study.

Q: Who encouraged you the most in this journey?
A: I think it was a collective effort by all my teachers, parents and Grandparents who never gave up on me. It was their strong belief in me that encouraged me to give my best.

Q: What was your routine during the CBSE board exam preparation?
A: I never studied for 15-16 hours but how much every time I studied I did it with utmost concentration and focus. Along with that, eating well and sleeping on time is an important aspect as it makes a huge difference. We can fetch the best results only if our body and mind is healthy.

Q: What are your future plans? Which career path are you aiming?
A: I am aiming to prepare for medical entrances and as of now my future plans are to continue giving my best the next two years.

Q: What is your favourite subject?
A: It might come as a surprise but, I equally like both Maths & Biology

A: For the students who will be appearing CBSE Boards 2025 I suggest they give themselves time to improve at their own pace and stay motivated. They take the exams casually but give their best and acknowledge where they are struggling and improve by understanding the concepts by heart. Also they must know marks don't necessarily determine your future so enjoy while keeping track of studies.
