How to Convert CBSE CGPA to Percentage?

Students seeking to convert CBSE 10th CGPA to percentage or convert CBSE 12th CGPA to percentage are required to follow the CGPA to percentage converter formula.  As per the formula, student seeking CGPA to percentage conversion is required to multiply the CGPA with 9.5 to get the overall indicative percentage.

Why CGPA is multiplied to 9.5 for percentage calculation?

CGPA is multiplied with 9.5 as the Board has analyzed the last five year CBSE result 2024 and calculated the average marks of all candidates who scored between 91 and 100. That average turned out to be close to 95 marks. Since the equivalent Grade Point for the 91-100 band (A1 grade) of marks is 10, it then divided the average result of 95 by 10. The result is 9.5.

Q:   I have scored 70% in class 12th from CBSE board in 2024. Can I give improvement exam in 2025 without attending school?

A:

Yes, you can take improvement exams without attending school, provided you follow the procedures outlined by the CBSE board. Here’s how it typically works:

  1. Eligibility: You must have passed your Class 12 exams and be seeking to improve your marks. Improvement exams are generally available for students who wish to enhance their scores in specific subjects.

  2. Registration: You need to register for the improvement exams through the CBSE board. This is usually done online via the CBSE's official website or through the school you attended. Since you're not attending school, you'll need to handle this registration process independently.

  3. Examination Centers: You will need to select an examination center where you will appear for the improvement exams. You can usually choose a center that's convenient for you.

  4. Preparation: You’ll need to prepare for the exams independently or through private coaching/tutoring if you’re not attending school.

  5. Syllabus and Study Material: Ensure you have access to the syllabus and study materials for the subjects you plan to improve.

The board has also disclaimed that the percentage calculation is only an approximation and not exact percentage.

How to calculate CBSE CGPA from marks?

For instance, to calculate CGPA from marks, a student has scored the following grade points (Subject-wise):

Subject 1 – 10

Subject 2 – 10

Subject 3 – 7

Subject 4 – 9.5

Subject 5 – 8

So, now the sum of the Grade Points (GP) will be : 10+10+7+9.5+8 = 44.5

Dividing the sum with 5 will be 44.5 / 5 = 8.9

So, 8.9 is the CGPA of the student.
