CBSE reduces syllabus by 30%; Know how it will affect CBSE 10th, 12th Board Exams 2021

Commenting on the next CBSE board exams 2020-21 and how the reduced syllabus will impact the exam setting, the CBSE said that the reduced syllabus will not be a part of the internal assessment and board exam.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) reduced the syllabus for classes 9, 10, 11 and 12 for the upcoming academic session 2020-21. According to the official notice released by the Board, “The revision of syllabi is a measure taken due to the extraordinary situation prevailing in the country and in different parts of the world. Considering the importance of achieving the level of learning, the syllabus has been rationalised to the extent possible by retaining the core concepts.”

Commenting on the next CBSE board exams 2020-21 and how the reduced syllabus will impact the exam setting, the CBSE said that the reduced syllabus will not be a part of the internal assessment and board exam. It also asked the teachers to make sure that the topics of the reduced syllabus are taught to students adequately so that they do not miss the connection between different topics.

The Board added, “The Heads of Schools and Teachers may ensure that the topics that have been reduced are also explained to the students to the extent required to connect different topics.”

It said, “However, the reduced syllabus will not be part of the topics for Internal Assessment and year-end Board Examination.”

Recently, alternative calendars are also released by the NCERT for schools to follow during the COVID-19 lockdown situation. Regarding this, the CBSE asked schools to follow the alternative academic calendar and inputs from the NCERT on transacting the curriculum using different strategies may also be part of the teaching pedagogy. Meanwhile, the Board is also prepping up to release CBSE 10th results 2020 and CBSE 12th results 2020. It is expected that the reduction in CBSE Syllabus 2021 would also affect the Paper Pattern, evaluation and assessment strategy for CBSE 10th results and CBSE 12th Results for the upcoming year.
