The coronavirus lockdown led to the closure of academic institutions, suspended classroom lectures, postponed exams and delayed results. The prevailing health crisis and disturbed academic schedule are giving a lot of stress and anxiety to the students.

Thousands of students across the globe are forced to study from home due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus. In order to contain the deadly virus COVID-19, the government imposed a nationwide lockdown until May 3. The coronavirus lockdown led to the closure of academic institutions, suspended classroom lectures, postponed exams and delayed results. The prevailing health crisis and disturbed academic schedule are giving a lot of stress and anxiety to the students. In order to make sure that students are not disheartened or under stress due to the postponed exams and delayed results, Karnataka Primary and Secondary Education Minister Suresh Kumar is calling each and every student of class 10 and trying to cheer them up.

The state postponed the Karnataka 10th board exam due to the lockdown. According to the report, more than 8 lakh students are waiting for the Karnataka SSLC time table 2020 for pending exams. Earlier, the exams were scheduled to begin in the last week of March and conclude by April 9. The minster is talking to around 50 to 60 students every day from different districts. Talking about his experience, the minister said, “I started this since yesterday, I speak to kids who are waiting to write their exams. It takes about 2.5 hours per day. When I am traveling in the car or early in the morning I speak to them and check on how they are doing and their studying habits.”

While the minister is calling the students to motivate them, here’s how students are reacting to his calls:

According to the reports, many students got shocked to receive a call from the education minister himself. Many even requested him not to cancel the exam as they are waiting to appear for the same after the lockdown.

"I want to write the exam and then get promoted to the next class because I do not want to hear that I passed easily due to coronavirus lockdown by the future generations," a student from Mandya told the minister.

In order to prepare students for the pending exams, the Karnataka government will soon start revision classes on Doordarshan for every subject. Meanwhile, the government is also thinking to arrange revision classes in school for a short duration before the children appear for the exams.
