COVID-19: Impact of Coronavirus on Board examinations, get all updates here

In the wake of the Coronavirus Outbreak in the country, many Board examinations have been postponed and will be rescheduled after the situation is back to normal. Read the article to get the latest updates on the impact of COVID-19 on the board examinations.

As the nation is observing lockdown since March 25, 2020, due to the outbreak of novel Coronavirus that has infected over 2.7 lakh Indians and over 70 lakh people across the globe, as per the data on June 10, 2020, many examinations have been rescheduled. While many board examinations have concluded for the current academic year, many state board examinations are still pending. Some state boards have suspended the ongoing evaluation while some have promoted the students to the next level without examinations.
As per the latest developments, many state boards have also begun with the evaluation from home so that the results are not delayed further.

CBSE has cancelled the last examination for CBSE class 10 for the entire country. While it will still conduct all the pending examinations for the North-East Delhi Class 10 students as their examinations were postponed due to the Delhi riots in February. It has now announced that it will be conducting all the pending examinations for classes 10 and 12 between July 1 and July 15, 2020.

Keeping in view the safety and security of the students and in compliance with the Government's orders, many state boards have postponed their examinations due to the Coronavirus Outbreak in the country. National Boards including CBSE, NIOS, CISCE have decided to postpone all its ongoing examinations and reschedule them only after reviewing the situation in the country.
Many boards including Kerala, Goa, Assam have also declared the tentative revised schedules of their examinations.

Not only the school examinations have been deferred, but many entrance examinations were also postponed including JEE Mains, GUJCET, NEET, among others. The revised dates for JEE Main and NEET have been announced by the HRD Minister. Read here

March 18, 2020: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has postponed all its examinations scheduled from March 19 till March 31, as per the Government's orders on March 18 due to the Coronavirus Outbreak. As per the official notification released by CBSE, all the ongoing examinations for classes 10^th and 12^th will be rescheduled after March 31, after reviewing the situation. The last exam for CBSE 10^th was scheduled for March 20, while for CBSE Class 12 it was scheduled for March 30. "Re-examination for the Northeast students will also be further rescheduled," the notification further stated. Read More here

Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (ICSE and ISC)

May 2, 2020: ICSE 10th, ISC 12th revised exam dates for remaining papers will be announced 8 days prior: CISCE. Read to know more here

April 1, 2020: CISCE warns students against fake notices on ICSE, ISC revised exam dates. CISCE declared that the board neither announced new dates for the postponed board examinations nor cancelled the examinations altogether. The official declaration by CISCE came when some fake notices started making rounds on social media. Read more here

March 19, 2020: The CISCE has postponed all its ICSE Class 10 and ISC Class 12 examinations 2020 scheduled to be conducted between March 19 and March 31, 2020. The decision came after it initially refused to postpone the examinations. As per the official notification, "The revised dates for the conduct of the remaining papers shall be notified in due course of time."

State Boards exams postponed

Many state boards including RBSE, MPBSE, Haryana Board, etc have decided to postpone its examinations. However, the AP Board will continue with its examinations as per the schedule. Know more below.

April 1, 2020: As per the latest update, the Rajasthan Education Minister has said that the state board will not start with the RBSE Board examinations from April 16. This comes after certain media reports claimed that RBSE examinations 2020 will commence soon after the nationwide lockdown is uplifted on April 15, 2020. Read more here

March 20, 2020: The Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education has released an official notification regarding the postponement of examinations for classes 10^th and 12^th in the wake of Coronavirus which is spreading rapidly all over the globe. The RBSE examinations have been postponed until further notice.

March 20, 2020:The Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE) has postponed all the examinations for MPBSE Class 10 and MPBSE Class 12 scheduled in the state till March 31 due to the spread of Coronavirus. The MPBSE board has also suspended the evaluation process of the answer sheets scheduled to commence on March 22. The Board will announce new dates for the examinations and the evaluation process later after analysing the prevailing emergency situation due to the pandemic. Read more here

Punjab School Education Board (PSEB)

March 23, 2020: PSEB became the first state board to release the revised datesheet for class 5 (Primary), class 10 (Matric), and class 12 (Senior Secondary).

March 20, 2020: The Punjab Board announced the postponement of the state education board's examinations of classes 10 and 12 till March 31. PSEB has become the fifth major board (regular exams) to postpone the board exams in two days after CBSE, RBSE, CISCE, and MPBSE. Read more here

March 28, 2020: The Jammu and Kashmir State Board (JKBOSE) has postponed all its JKBOSE 10^th and 12^th examinations till further orders, after initially postponing them till March 31, 2020. March 24, 2020: The AP Board has postponed the AP Class 10 examinations due to the spread of the Coronavirus. The examinations, which were scheduled to commence from March 31 have been postponed for two weeks. Read more here

Earlier, the Andhra Pradesh Education Minister had announced that the AP Board Class 10 and AP Board Class 12 examinations which were already scheduled, will continue. He added that as a precautionary measure, the students will be seated at a distance from each other and if any student has cold or fever, they will be allowed to write exams in special rooms.

Mizoram Board

April 20, 2020: MBSE Board's decision to resume Class 12 board exams reversed. MBSE took the decision after receiving an appeal from the central government to put on hold the examination due to the lockdown imposed to contain the spread of novel coronavirus. The notification states, ‘the rescheduled class 12 board examinations for the remaining subjects in Arts, Science and Commerce streams have been postponed till further orders. The MBSE has sought an apology from all the students and stakeholders for the inconvenience as the Centre's appeal has to be respected.’ Read more here

Every student must wash their hands as many times as they can and avoid stepping out of their homes, unless unavoidable.

As many examinations have been postponed, there is an anxiety among students when the dates will be announced. In the meantime, all the students must prepare for their upcoming examinations and make the most of this 'quarantine' time to practise, learn and study more to ace their examinations.
