The International Baccalaureate (IB) Board decided to promote students of class 10 and pass students of class 12 without conducting any board exams.
Amid the pandemic novel coronavirus affecting globally, the International Baccalaureate (IB) Board decided to promote students of class 10 and pass students of class 12 without conducting any Board exams. IB Board conducts exams in the month of May and announces the result in the month of June.
However, according to the education system of the Board, they conduct internal exams and assign research works to students throughout the year. Students of the IB Board are assessed and marked throughout the year on the basis of internals. On the basis of this yearly project works and assessment, the Board decided to promote the students only for this session.
According to the reports, the Board will evaluate and pass the students of class 12 on the basis of internals as well. This is the first time ever when a Board is taking such a step during the crisis. This explains the emergency due to the coronavirus outbreak well. As the rapidly spreading disease is affecting everyone severely, it is important for people to stay inside their homes and practice social distancing. Conducting examination will, in turn, result in large gathering putting the health and safety of students as well as the staff members at stake.
While many other boards including CBSE is yet to make a decision, the IB board became the first to cancel its Board exams and promote the students of Board classes i.e. 10th and 12th. Talking about the step taken by the Board, Jayshree Periwal International School principal stated that the crisis is global and the step taken by the Board was necessary else students would have been in trouble.
