West Bengal board exam 2020: Student caught making TikTok video of English question paper

He took pictures of three pages of the question paper while being inside the classroom, modified it on TikTok app, added Bollywood music to the video and shared it.

In West Bengal’s Malda district, a 16-year old examinee was caught on Wednesday for making a TikTok video of the English question paper for class 10 state board exams. After filming the video, he circulated it on social media. The incident took place in Baidyanathpur High School in Ratua police station area of the district. The boy is accused of circulating it soon after the exam commenced. He took pictures of three pages of the question paper while being inside the classroom. Then he modified it on TikTok app, added Bollywood music to the video and shared it.

He was to be taken to the district Juvenile Justice Board on Thursday. According to the District education department sources, the accused’s West Bengal board examination has been annulled and he has been barred. The supposed video displays some multiple choice and essay-type questions. It started trending within an hour of the commencement of the examinations at 12 pm. The incident has angered examinees and parents alike. They raised questions on the security of examination centres where neither students nor the teachers are being permitted to take any electronic gadgets.

The establishments have suspended internet services in some regions in the vicinity of schools spread over 42 blocks of the state, to avert any misconducts. However, according to a top West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) official, a very few questions in the claimed video matched with the original English question paper. The question paper in the video also did not have the logo of the Board, which is stamped on the top.
