In the midst of the extended lockdown in order to contain the novel coronavirus, the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education, JKBOSE released a notice on its official website regarding the promotion of class 11 students.

In the midst of the extended lockdown in order to contain the novel coronavirus, the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education, JKBOSE released a notice on its official website regarding the promotion of class 11 students in the Union Territory of Ladakh. The Jammu and Kashmir education board decided to promote all the students of class 11 to the next class without any exams as conducting exams amid the outbreak of COVID-19 can lead to further spread of the virus.

The official notice released by JKBOSE clearly states that the decision of promoting class 11 is taken due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak and the extended Pan-India lockdown (Lockdown 3.0). The Board also stated that such a step is taken to prevent the academic loss of the students.

The notice released by the board with regards to the promotion of the class 11 students reads, “In view of the prevailing situation, it is apparent that the conduct of the mid examination is impossible in the near future and the delay in the conduct of said examination may adversely affect the academic career of candidates who were supposed to participate in the said examination.”

The notice further reads, “Now thereof, in order to save the academic future it is hereby notified that all the candidates who were to appear in HSP-1 (Class 11) annual/private/biannual 2019-2020 private examination are promoter to HSP-2 (class 12th) as one-time exception provided that all such candidates have submitted the permission cum admission forms for the said examination and have been found eligible to appear in the said examination.” According to the statement, the board is planning to begin the next academic session as soon as possible to engage students in academic activities.

Meanwhile, JKBOSE is expected to release the JKBOSE class 10 and 12 results 2020 as soon as the lockdown is lifted. According to the order issued by the Jammu and Kashmir Board the remaining unevaluated answer sheets of the JKBOSE 10th and JKBOSE 12th  exams will be issued to the examiners for evaluation in order to release JKBOSE 10th Result 2020 and JKBOSE 12th Result 2020. The notice clearly states that the evaluation must be done after taking up necessary measures.
