The Central Board of Secondary Education released guidelines for its newly affiliated schools to make them understand the mission, vision and working of the CBSE in a better way. 

The Human Resource and Development Minister, Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ shared guidelines formulated by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for its recently affiliated schools. The minister shared the guidelines and self-study material on his official Twitter handle. The informatory data contains all the information about the CBSE that its affiliated schools must know.

Sharing the guidelines on the social media platform, Mr. Pokhriyal stated, “#CBSE has prepared self-study material to inform newly affiliated schools about board systems. This material is available at the following link on the CBSE website”

The press release is available on the official the CBSE as well. The press release states, “it is a self-learning material which is prepared to make newly affiliated schools understand the CBSE systems.”

The presentation covers all the aspects such as the role of the principal, actions to be taken by management, tasks to be done, RTE provisions with respect to affiliation with CBSE, the role of regional office and more.

Giving an overview of the historical background of the Board, its growth over the years and how it flourished and became successful in imparting education using its innovative methods of the teaching-learning process, presentation talks about the most important parts of CBSE that are Students, Principal, School Staff, Teachers, Parents, School Management and Community.  

The Board also states, “Students are the centre and focus of all the initiatives taken and works done by CBSE. Therefore, each one of the functionaries needs to work in close collaboration to empower students to become responsible and committed future citizens and make students equipped with all skill-sets to contribute to nation-building.”

It further states, “CBSE grants affiliation to such schools and other educational institutions in India or abroad which propose to prepare their students and candidates for the examinations conducted by the Board. Conducts examinations for Secondary Schools and Senior Secondary schools and such other examinations as may be determined or assigned to it by the Central Government. Develops and manages quality and standards in school education subject. Undertakes continuous professional development of teachers and organize such activities/training as are considered necessary for the development and promotion of child-centric education.”

Talking about its mission and Vision, the Board states that it aims to “be a centre of unmatched excellence for providing quality education.” And strives “to continuously raise the educational standards to meet the national and global needs, to inspire learning for physical, emotional, social and intellectual wellbeing of students.”

For the principals, the presentation also talks about the difference between a leader and a boss. It contains self-assessment activities to self-analyses whether the individual is a good leader or a boss.

Stating the king the environment the schools must create for the students, the statement says, “the schools must create a culture of promoting Lifeskills & Values, Curiosity & Creativity, Thinking & Problem Solving, Exploration & Innovation, Digital Literacy & Citizenship Skills, Excellence Through Participatory and Active Learning.”

For the schools that will be found violating the rules and norms laid down by CBSE, the Board added, “states various conditions and measures of Penalties to be imposed by the Board in case the school is found to be violating the norms and policies laid down by the Board.”

To understand the working in a better way, the Board asked the schools to “Read National Curriculum Framework in force, National Education Policy in force, Affiliation ByeLaws, Examination Byelaws, CBSE Handbooks and Manuals thoroughly, Read the Curriculum Document thoroughly, See only CBSE websites for information, Refer to CBSE Circulars issued time to time.”
