West Bengal Board's remaining Class 12 exams in June and July due to COVID-19 lockdown

West Bengal Higher Secondary Education Department released the dates for the remaining class 12 examinations. The pending exams will be conducted in the month of July. All the safety and precautionary norms against the coronavirus will be followed. 

West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) decided to conduct the remaining Class 12 exams in the months of June and July. While addressing the media, the State Education Minister Partha Chatterjee stated that the West Bengal Class 12 examinations for the remaining 12 subjects will be held on June 29, July 2 and July 6. The Minister also added that the Board will release the time table soon. According to the WBCHSE Class 12th Date Sheet 2020, the higher secondary (Class 12) examinations for most of the subjects were held from March 13 to March 21, 2020. The examinations for some papers that were scheduled on March 23, March 25 and March 27 got postponed due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus.

Ms Chatterjee also told the media that each exam centre will have only 80-100 students and the state has selected 2,500 exams centres for conducting the exams which were earlier postponed in view of preventing the spread of the coronavirus in the state.

She further said the number of students who will be appearing for the exams each day will be more than 2 lakh. Students will be provided with private-public transport to reach the exam centres.

All safety precautions regarding COVID-19, including social distancing norms, will be ensured during the exams, the minister said.

The examinations were postponed for the following subjects- Accountancy, Economics, Geography, Physics, Nutrition, Education, Chemistry, Journalism, Sanskrit, Persian, Arabic, French, Statistics,  Costing and Taxation, Home Management, and Family Resource Management.

Earlier, on April 16, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata announced that the West Bengal Board's Higher Secondary (HS or Class 12) examination will be conducted in June.

The chief minister also announced the promotion of Class 11 and college students to the next class and semesters respectively without giving any annual and semester exams respectively.

Meanwhile, The Class 10 or Madhyamik Examination of the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education or WBBSE got concluded way before the outbreak of the COVID-19. According to the reports, the WBBSE papers are under the evaluation process right now. However, Students who appeared for the West Bengal class 10 board examination will have to wait for the West Bengal Madhyamik Result 2020 a little longer as the official said, "The results will be announced after the entire process is over and the government issues advisory about the normalisation of the situation."
