As a Brand Consultant, your main role is to define the brand. It is your responsibility to provide analysis, solutions and general marketing expertise and ensure that a brand successfully sells its products.

A brand is the identity of a product or service and it sets companies apart from one another in a distinctive way. Brand consulting plays an important role in the process of advertising and marketing of goods and services to prospective consumers. As a brand consultant, you will be responsible for pushing forward a brand and make it stand out from other competitors as well as enhance public perception of the brand.

Responsibilities of a Brand Consultant:

As a Brand Consultant, your main role is to define the brand. A brand consultant develops and assists in implementing strategies for both new and existing products. You will also indulge in all phases of marketing ranging from design and distribution decisions to advertising and public relations messaging. You will perform market research, determine target markets, observe consumer perceptions, competition, business trends and product value. These attributes affect logo and package design, pricing, placement, advertising campaigns and customer service messaging. You must be able to make the right decision in terms of product distribution, determining the best medium for advertising and generating product messages for different demographics.

Entry requirements:

You can also enter the field after completing a PG degree or diploma in marketing, general management, communication studies, advertising, sociology or psychology. You can enhance your work experience by completing a business or marketing master's degree program as it will improve your employability in leadership positions at consulting firms and advertising agencies. One could pursue an MBA in brand management, visual merchandising, marketing or communications.
