IIM-C offers 1 year Visionary Leadership programme

Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta (IIM Calcutta) is offering a unique one-year residential programme called the Post Graduate Programme for Executives for Visionary Leadership in Manufacturing (PGPEX-VLM). Conducted jointly with IIT Kanpur and IIT Madras, this programme has been designed in close consultation with industry groups such as the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), National Manufacturing Competitiveness Council (NMCC) and Ministry of HRD, Government of India.

 With an aim to develop leaders in Manufacturing sector, the PGPEX – VLM programme includes mandatory industry internship in India for seven weeks as well as international industrial study visit to Japan.

 Meant for engineering graduates working in the manufacturing and allied busineses, it includes courses on Green Manufacturing, SAP ERP, and Breakthrough Management along with ISO9001 Lead Auditor Training.

 Eligibility

 Candidates interested in the programme should be engineering graduates with first class marks right from Class X. They should also have a minimum of four and a half and a maximum of ten years of work experience in manufacturing, engineering and related sectors; holding responsibilities in production planning and control, research, design and development, quality control, plant engineering, maintenance, supply chain, construction etc.

Sponsored candidates can exceed the maximum limit of work experience.

 Selection Procedure

 IIM Calcutta selects candidates for PGPEX-VLM on the basis of their academic background, relevant work experience, employers’ recommendations, bio-data & essays, as well as performance in the Aptitude Test and Personal Interview to be conducted jointly by IIMC, IITK and IITM.

 GMAT score to substantiate academic credence is not mandatory but desirable.

 Fee Structure

Students will need to pay:

• Rs 60,000 to IIM Calcutta at the time of accepting the admission offer
• Rs 3,52,500 to IIM Calcutta at the time before commencement of the course
• Rs 1,95,000 to IIT Kanpur
• Rs 1,95,000 to IIT Madras
• Rs 97,500 to IIM Calcutta again in the last leg of the programme before joining industry internship.

 Overall, the students will pay Rs 9 lakhs for the course.

 IIMC has set the application deadline for the PGPEX VLM programme as November 30, 2012. Other important dates until the commencement of the course next year are:

 

December 3, 2012, Monday	Announcement of Short listed candidates for test & Interview
December 30, 2012, Sunday	Aptitude test and Interview at IIM Calcutta
December 30, 2012, Sunday (tentative)	Announcement of Final list of selected candidates and waiting list candidates
