IIM-Shillong is set to launch a one year executive MBA in international business in collaboration with a Chinese university to produce global leaders, reported Times of India. IIM-S has already launched a one-year executive postgraduate programme (PGPEx) in international business. The programme has been introduced to develop leadership skills with an emphasis on working with multicultural global teams.

Being the first Sino-Indian MBA programme, it provides participants the opportunity to spend the latter six months of their internship in China. Offered in collaboration with the Ocean University of China for the same, the programme will include understanding Chinese business and growth.

When asked why China was chose as a partner, Ashok K Dutta, director, IIM-S told TOI that China has emerged as one of the biggest trading partners with the country, yet no one has ventured into an academic partnership. IIM-S believes in innovating and setting trends and intends to do this through the programme.

The maximum intake into the programme will be limited to 45 and aspirants must have a bachelor's degree with three years of work experience in an executive position. Admission will be on the basis of interviews. According to the TOI report, IIM-S will set the course fee at around Rs 12 lakh including tuition fee and accommodation only in India and China.
