Mystory@Ishita Shah: How I chose my course and college
I completed class X in the year 2010 and chose Commerce as my specialization subject for XI-XII. After my XIIth, I decided to graduate in Information Technology (IT) out of sheer interest in the field. I got admitted in St Xavier’s College, Mumbai which absolutely changed my life. It helped me expand my thought process and raise my ambitions too.
After graduating, I realised that my qualifications aren’t enough for me to stand out in this competitive world. So I planned to pursue my masters soon and started preparing for MBA entrance exams as business is something that interests me. I chose to specialize in marketing because I had figured that marketing is my forte and I’d do it better than any other specialization. Fortunately enough, I got admitted in SIES College of Management Studies (SIESCOMS), Nerul, which is one of the most reputed institutes in Mumbai and very well known for Marketing.

How I cracked admission in SIESCOMS
I started preparing for CAT 2015 but couldn’t do really well in it. After that, I decided to take up CET seriously and thanks to my coaching classes at IMS Thane and the most knowledgeable faculties there, I managed to crack CET 2016 with 97.16 percentile. Of course, mocks play a very crucial role in helping you improve your score and the mocks of IMS were designed to be the closest to CET every year but CET 2016 was a complete U-Turn and the difficulty level was astonishing. Here, my CAT preparations really helped me to crack tricky questions. Though I was targeting Jamnalal Bajaj but according to my percentile, SIESCOMS was the best I could get.
My college life: Classes, extra-curricular activities and more
SIESCOMS has wonderful faculty members who have always managed to draw my attention to all subjects. But the subjects I loved the most as of now are Marketing Management and Economics. I am a fresher and I almost had no knowledge about corporates, managing events, presentations, public speaking, etc. Thanks to SIESCOMS for giving me so many opportunities to learn things I didn’t know before joining this college. Being a part of Internal Events Committee in this college, I learnt how to organise events, may it be a cultural event, sports event, business event or a celebration. Virtualities – the annual festival of SIESCOMS gave me a first-hand experience in sponsorships, publicity and events too.
This college also gave me enormous opportunities to explore myself, my capabilities and my caliber. It has raised my bar in very few months of college. I have also been selected for my Summer Internship Program as a sales representative in Garnet Construction. One thing I would like to tell about SIESCOMS is that it has a very good ROI (return on investment) and I hope I make the most out of it.
