Mystory@Magal Deepak Rao: Select a course that complements your skills

I was always interested in Engineering, and when I finished my 12th standard and got into PES College of Engineering and opted for Automobile Engineering, it was a dream come true. I completed my engineering and after 4 years had hopes of getting into a good organisation and I did. I joined Tata Motors with their Dealership however instead of technical I was put into customer service.

After spending a couple of years in this field, I was identified as a trainer and was moved into the training department. Thus, my journey into the realm of Training and Development began with my movement into the BPO industry and it's been 14 long and fruitful and passionate years in this domain. This job gives me the satisfaction that I now believe my technical skills might not have given. I am now a Manager - Learning and Development in an IT company.

I also did MBA in Training and Development from National Institute of Business Management, Chennai. It has been 15 years in this field and I firmly believe that I have made the right career choice. I also believe that you should choose a career not based only on your education, however also take your skills acquired into consideration. Sometimes the skills you acquire may not be in the same field of your education but that should not matter. What should matter is are you happy doing what you are doing in your career.
