Syed Hussain, a teacher from Muzaffarpur caught in Kabul; Family worried
Abid Hussain is among four to five Indian teachers who are caught up in Kabul due to a sudden change of events in Afghanistan.
Syed Abid Hussain, a resident of Muzaffarpur district of Bihar, went to Afghanistan a few years ago to build the future of Afghanistan, is now caught in a situation where he himself is not sure about his future. Hussain went to teach management at a university in Kabul around two years ago.
Hussain is among hundreds of Indians who are stuck in various parts of Afghanistan and want to return back to India as the situation has turned hostile in Afghanistan with the Taliban taking over the control and President Ashraf Ghani fleeing out of the country and seeking asylum in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Abid Hussain is among four to five Indian teachers who are caught up in Kabul due to a sudden change of events in Afghanistan. He teaches marketing and management. Hussain who is an assistant professor is worried about reuniting ack with his family in Bihar. He is in constant touch with his family in India.
Hussain’s son said: “My father went there one and half years ago and now we are worried about his return. We are also in constant touch with the Indian government for his safe return. We are praying that he is soon with us.”
Indian government and External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar has also assured that the government is trying its best for the safe return of all the Indians from Afghanistan. Since the Taliban captured Kabul on August 15, people from different nations are leaving Afghanistan. Indian Government has also brought back over 100 Indians through special flights.
MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi in a statement said: “The Government will take all steps to ensure the safety and security of Indian nationals and our interests in Afghanistan. We are aware that there are still some Indian nationals in Afghanistan who wish to return, and we are in touch with them.”
However, there are hundreds of Indians like Hussain who are still trapped in Kabul and are waiting to come to India. Hussain speaking to his family has assured that the situation is not very bad over there as being shown through news channels but he is eagerly waiting to return to his country.
Hussain's brother said that they are in constant touch with Dr Hussain and he has got himself enrolled with the Indian Embassy in Kabul for his return. “Right now he is inside the university campus in Kabul and he is saying he is safe, but looking at the situation in Afghanistan we are worried. We want him to return safely,” He said.
