It can monitor blood glucose, blood pressure, heart rate, blood oxygen, respiration rate, and a 6-lead ECG, among other things.

"Amrita Spandanam is a novel technology that has secured multiple US patents, with results published in top scientific publications," said Dr. Maneesha V Ramesh, the Provost of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, who led the team of researchers. From the comfort of one's own home, it provides a quick, easy, economical, and non-invasive way to monitor and detect diabetes, cardiovascular illnesses, hypertension, sleep apnea, and allergy attacks. Our collaboration with Tranquility IOT allows us to get the product from the lab to the market in record time. At Amrita Hospital in Kochi and numerous outlying clinics throughout Kerala, the product was rigorously tested on 1000 patients. These gadgets were successfully used at Amrita Hospital last year to remotely monitor the severity of Covid-19 patients' progression", he continued

Diabetes affects 77 million Indians, according to WHO figures. They must check their blood glucose levels several times a week, if not every day. Amrita Spandanam offers a non-invasive, prick-free approach to assess their blood glucose levels to make this process more convenient. Blood pressure can also be measured without the use of a pressure cuff.

Amrita Spandanam computes these vitals with a single finger clip, and the results are available in less than a minute. This has been made possible by Amrita scientists' unique AI algorithms, which interpret differential light signals from many LEDs to calculate important physiological metrics. Patients can also monitor their cardiovascular functions with the device's 6-lead wearable ECG configuration and automatic activity tagging, which is particularly useful for fitness monitoring and post-operative patients.

The patient's smartphone is connected to Amrita Spandanam. The information is sent to a secure hospital cloud, where any doctor who has been given permission by the patient can access the crucial parameters remotely from any place. The doctor can examine the patient's condition and commence teleconsultation in a timely manner. For acute hypotensive episodes, sepsis, sleep apnea, and atrial fibrillation, the solution also includes several -learning models that can forecast the probable deterioration of patients' health and provide early warning decision support to doctors.

Amrita University’s Team Vijayanta Win Award at World Robot Summit 2021

February 2, 2022: Vijayanta, a team from Amrita Vishwa Vidhyapeetham (Amrita University), Amritapuri, has earned the Best-in-Class Dexterity Award in the Standard Disaster Robotics Challenge in the Disaster Robotics Category at the World Robot Summit (WRS 2021), Tokyo, Japan, for their innovative search and rescue robot. Under the direction of Dr Rajesh Kannan Megalingam, Director, HuT Labs, the award-winning robot Paripreksya was built with the support of a team from Humanitarian Technology (HuT), a university engineering research lab.

Nearly 120 teams from all over the world competed in the preliminary rounds of the competition. However, only two Indian teams were chosen for the finals, both from Amrita University. Vijayanta won its category in the finals, which attracted the participation of the top ten teams. The summit was originally scheduled for July-August 2020, but it was postponed to 2021 owing to the epidemic, and teams participated virtually.

Paripreksya was created to expedite search and rescue efforts in disaster zones that are inaccessible or unsafe for human rescuers to enter. Thanks to its superior disaster area mapping and moving abilities, the robot can improve relief workers' situation awareness by presenting them with views of disaster zones. The robot is capable of moving on uneven and abrasive surfaces. Paripreksya's superior sensors assist it in precisely carrying out damage assessment activities. The robot can also rescue and transport victims from a disaster site to a safer location.
