B.Des. in Product Design - Batch of 2019

Absolutely dissatisfied with this college, no placements.
Placements: Placements here are very bad. Not even one company has come till now. Not only my department B.Des but for other engineering too. Placements are not happening here. If college people are showing placements on paper, then they are of our main campus.
Infrastructure: We have the slowest Wi-Fi connection, and computer labs, no sports area, no cafeteria, no proper fests. But we do have decent classrooms. Hostel's rooms are great but mess food *** to the core. On college website they'll show a sports ground, but that's the parking cum sports ground cum cultural activities arena.
Faculty: B. Design is purely based on hard work and enthusiasm in learning new things. Here they do have a curriculum but they lack in faculty quality. They have only 3 to 4 teachers with the knowledge of this field. Remaining everyone are here just for the sack of salaries. Faculty here has degrees in engineering but they are teaching design.
Other: If you are joining here, then please leave hopes on fests or any other extracurricular activities.

RUAS is definitely worth your time
Placements: None of our senior batches has passed out yet. They are still in the fourth year, so we have no particular idea of how placements will be.
But M.Des students have got a lot of placements. Mostly, companies from the automotive industry like Ashok Leyland, GM, Mercedes, Nissan Renault and a lot more visit our campus.
Infrastructure: When it comes to the infrastructure, our campus has an amply high-quality infrastructure with a full-time Wi-Fi connection. There are fully equipped classrooms with projectors in every room. The classrooms are made of high-quality material. They are absolutely perfect with the best equipment available. The university has a football field and a basketball court. The only drawback is the canteen which is not that great.
Faculty: The faculty members are top of the field personnel who have very high qualifications, are easy to understand, and have good communication skills. Most of the lecturers are young and this helps us to easily bond and relate with them. The faculty members are some of the best that I've ever seen- it's one of the greatest advantages of RUAS. Moreover, we have guest lecturers coming over once in a while. They help us learn a lot in our field.
Other: RUAS has a lot of advantages when it comes to universities in Bangalore.
Although it's placed at a distant location, it's worth travelling all the way. I've spent one year here and I've had a really good time. It's easy to find mentors and really relatable lecturers in our university. We are given maximal freedom in choices of clothing or hairstyle, etc. In design, we learn a lot of skills and have a lot of fun projects to do.
Overall, it's a fun course.

A great course but an improvement in infrastructure is much needed
Placements: The first batch of B.Des product design is in the 4th year and is going through the placements process. Various companies like Tata, General Motors, Renault, etc. have approached the students during placements, offering roles of design development and rendering for the companies.
Infrastructure: The college is located in Peenya, an industrial area full of factories and industries. The college provides free Wi-Fi throughout the campus and has classrooms and labs located within two floors underground. The hostel and canteen facilities are not great and a lot of improvement is required. Currently, there is a sports room that offers table tennis, boxing, board games, etc. They also now have a newly built basketball court placed near the entrance.
Faculty: In terms of B.Des, the faculty is really friendly and nice. The teachers teach either on hands-on or visual basis. In terms of curriculum, the course is less theory-based and more practical-oriented. A student will study all types of the designing aspects such as digital rendering, sketching, painting, clay modelling, workshop practice, handicraft practice, etc. The course is not only subjected to artistic design and learning but also the technical aspects of it.

It is a descent college but not entirely dependable.
Placements: The first batch is about to graduate this year. The college hasn't had any recruiting companies for hiring students. For the parallel department, engineering, though a few companies have been called, they're all service companies that are hiring students to do clerical jobs. There is a placement cell that handles recruiters and internships. However, it hasn't helped the students in any way. Students of 3rd year have an option between a project and a summer internship. Unfortunately, college hasn't provided any kind of support or connection to the students in finding any internship or any industrial network as such.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is good for all forms of academia. The labs and workshops are well-equipped. Although their maintenance could be better, it hasn't drastically impacted education. The non-academic infrastructure isn't great. The college campus is small and has 2 small eateries. There are few restaurants in the college vicinity, as the college is situated amidst the industrial Peenya area. There is no substantial infrastructure for sports and recreation.
Faculty: Faculty members are young and by and large, PG graduates from the same college. The dean is pursuing his Ph.D. right now. The department of design has no professors, all are of an 'assistant professor' ranking itself as no one is a Ph.D. The course curriculum is good and keeps changing with reviews of former batches and the coming of newer equipment. The content is designed to give knowledge on different fields at the same time. Design is an expensive pursuit, and the course curriculum makes it more difficult sometimes.
