    Review of Gossner College.
Placements: In Gossner College B.Com (Accounts Hons.), there are very few companies that arrive for placement of students. However, in my batch, at least 20 out of 200 students secured campus placements. The highest package was about 4 LPA, and the minimum was 2 LPA. I would recommend doing research for placements in some good companies rather than relying solely on campus selection.
Infrastructure: The college is equipped with labs, but in the commerce field, we don't have to do any experiments like science students, so there are no labs for commerce students. However, the college has a decent library where you can access and gain good knowledge from the books available. The college doesn't provide hostel facilities.
Faculty: The teachers in the Commerce/Accounts department are very professional, well-educated, and experienced. The quality of education they provide is very helpful, and you can ask as many questions as you want until you understand the concept. Some teachers are also double NET qualified.

An adventurous journey in Gossner college.
Placements: Only five percent of students can get placement here; placement facilities are not that good at Gossner College; only small companies come to recruit students and the average package of placements is 150000 per year, which is very low for students who take care of their houses.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure at Gossner College is tremendous. The library present here is full of books and novels, which helps students to read and study because in the library there is a sitting area as well and there are various labs represented in the college, like the computer lab, bio lab, chemistry lab, etc., as well as a sports room full of equipment.
Faculty: Most of the faculty members of Gossner College are well experienced but some of them don't know how to teach students; they only talk about other things. The curriculum of the course is very suitable for the course provided here and the semester exams here are moderate. If you study, then the chances of getting a pass are high.
Other: I chose B.Com. (Hons) because I have an interest in commercial and financial fields. That's why I chose B.Com. I want to improve some things in the course that Gossner College doesn't provide practical knowledge of about the firm. Events and fests take place every 6 months. The campus is very beautiful.

    Absolutely Dissatisfied with the Placements
Placements: At most 10 to 15 companies visit, and only a few students get placed. The highest salary is up to 4 Lacs to 5 Lacs, and the lowest is up to 1 Lacs to 2 Lacs. There are no internships available, and the chance of placement is very low in the college.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is slightly better than expected. The classrooms are good, and there is a small library on the campus. Hostel accommodation is available for ST, SC, and Christian girls. Classrooms are equipped with projectors and are spacious.
Faculty: Some teachers are very good, but others are so poor that it’s hard to understand how they got the job. The Head of Department is very good and knowledgeable. The course curriculum is relevant. The semesters are easy to pass; if you start studying 5 days before the exam, you can achieve a 9 CGPA or more.

The educational quality is good, and the exam structure is very effective.
Placements: In our college, only 10% of students are placed. The highest salary package offered is 5 LPA. The lowest salary package offered is 1.5 LPA and the average salary package offered is 2 LPA. Top recruiting companies like TCS, Zomato, Bajaj Finance, etc., visit our campus. Almost 25% of students get internships. Top roles offered are accounting and auditing, insurance services, etc.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is quite good. Every department has its building. Wi-Fi is available in the library. Our labs are well maintained. All the basic facilities required to perform lab tasks are available. Our classrooms are clean and well-maintained. Smart boards and projectors are available for almost all classrooms. Library facilities are not up to the mark. There are rooms available. The hotel facilities are available for girls. The food offered at the hostel is average. Medical facilities are provided by the college for minor injuries. Regular sports-related events are organised at our college.
Faculty: Our teachers are well qualified. Almost all of them have more than 5 years of experience in the teaching field. The quality of teaching is good. They provide students with the right guidance for future opportunities. The course curriculum is very relevant. Semester exams are conducted regularly and in a very structured manner. It does not prepare students for the industry, as the course is mainly theoretical. Almost 60% of students don't get internships, so they are not industry ready. The semester exams are average. Mid-term exams are conducted every 3 months, and end-term exams are conducted every 6 months. The pass percentage is around 60%.
Other: I chose this course because it opens up endless opportunities regarding future aspects. It is a bachelor's degree, so I am available to appear in some specific exams that require a graduate degree. Practical-based knowledge should be included in the course to help students become industry-ready. Regular events are organised by the college for students. Scholarships are provided by the college, especially for students who belong to the SC or ST categories.

It is a better and more affordable college.
Placements: Placements are left to students on campus. Placements are not very well promoted. The highest salary package offered is around 5.4 LPA, and the lowest is 2 LPA. The top recruiting companies are consultancies. Very few students get internships on their own initiative.
Infrastructure: There are no hostel services. The building is old. It has been renovated. Classrooms are pretty huge. Sports are highly promoted, but the sources are not provided. They encourage you to use your own resources.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful and qualified with good knowledge. The teaching quality is good. There are many teachers. There are 4 or 5 teachers per subject. The course is relevant for students and makes them ready for industry and jobs. Exams are difficult. Exams are conducted with proper rules and regulations. The passing percentage is 40% per subject.

    Best college for competition preparation.
Placements: In Gossner College of Ranchi, there is no placement facility; you will just receive a degree without any placement support. Recruitment companies do not visit Gossner College for placements, so you will need to contact professors or seek opportunities externally.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is not so good, primarily because many poor students study here, and many are from outside Ranchi. There is no hostel available for boys, but there is a girls' hostel where safety is ensured. Food is provided inside the hostel.
Faculty: The teachers are helpful, but exams are not conducted on time; many times, they get postponed, and there are late sessions. If you decide to attend this college, it would be wise to start preparing for competitive exams. I have not attended the college myself but focused on my competition preparation.
Other: I chose B.Com (Hons) because my background is in commerce, and I wanted a college where attendance is not mandatory, allowing me to prepare for my competitions.

    Gossner College
    Admission FAQs

Q:   Is B.Com at Gossner College worth the investment?

    A:
    {Source: B.Com students & alumni}

Based on the reviews and feedback from current students and alumni, here's a summary:

    * Placement opportunities: While a significant portion of students (around 60-70%) do manage to secure placements, the packages offered are relatively lower (average ranging from INR3 Lacs to INR9 lakh). Top companies visiting the campus include Tata, Infosys, and Microsoft.
    * Teaching Quality: Most faculty members are well-educated and knowledgeable, providing good guidance and support. Some reviewers mentioned that certain teachers could be more helpful and approachable.
    * Infrastructural Facilities: The college has a decent infrastructure, with well-equipped classrooms, libraries, and computer labs. However, some issues arise with regards to Wi-Fi connectivity and hostels.
    * Campus Life: Students seem to appreciate the college's campus environment, with regular events, festivals, and a vibrant atmosphere. The canteen is generally praised for serving good food at reasonable rates.
    * Course Curriculum: Reviewers agree that the course curriculum is relevant and prepares students for industry requirements. However, some feel that practical training could be improved upon.
    * Overall Satisfaction: Opinions vary, but many students mention that while the college has its flaws, it still provides a good education and overall experience.

Considering these factors, whether or not B.Com at Gossner College is "worth the investment" ultimately depends on individual priorities and expectations. For those seeking a strong foundation in commerce and potential placement opportunities, the college might be a viable option. However, students looking for top-tier salaries or exceptional infrastructure might find alternatives more appealing.

    Here are some key takeaways:

    * Focus on academics: With a strong emphasis on theory and limited practical exposure, students would benefit from self-study and supplemental materials to gain a comprehensive understanding of the subject.
    * Explore additional courses: As several students have taken advantage of external certifications like CA, CS, and MBA prep, exploring complementary courses can enhance employability and earning potential.
    * College-wide improvements: Addressing infrastructural concerns, enhancing Wi-Fi connectivity, and increasing transparency in placement processes would likely boost overall satisfaction among students.

Remember that personal experiences and preferences play a crucial role in determining whether a particular institution is "worth the investment." Weighing pros and cons carefully and considering individual circumstances will help prospective students make informed decisions.
